They have effectively socialized the risk that their investments abroad could be subject to war, nationalization, or unrest. The funds for the military are paid exclusively by those who are getting screwed when these guys leave for lower costs (including regulation, labor, and taxation). Interestingly, these same global interests are funding NGOs to assure the economic destruction of their competitors via the use of regulatory power. If we simply taxed these interests for the services they demand, the illusion of "comparative advantage would vanish."
