"the decendants of brown-skinned immigrants, raised in the US for generations, won't be able to run the country"

They still need AA to get into good schools.

Are "Latinos" white? Some are. Some are American Indian. Some are black. Some are of mixed ancestry. What does it matter?

It does in the context of this article where Pat takes a relevant issue like prevent illegal immigration and taints it by bringing up the point that they are 'white' or 'not white'

So many tax dollars, time and energy are spent on educating illegals. I just heard a rumor that one of our very BEST principals is being let go because his illegal immigrant populated school has low test scores. Well, duh!! Having spent many years in that particular school, I can tell you that the illegal kids do NOT speak English or have any desire to do so. They hang in gangs and cause chaos and disruption. They DO NOT assimilate. They are a drain on our taxes. Ok, rant over.

American founding fathers wrote what they wrote because of access to European enlightenment tradition, not because of melanin content of their skin.

correct again.

Point taken, but then the trend is your friend. Some countries are on the move economically, and making rapid progress, and some are not.

Mulatto means mixed race, usually caucasian and black or mestizo - so yes, they are of caucasian descent. Just like me in my family - because my screwed-up color scheme gives me dark skin, nearly black eyes, and red hair, so like, which one am I? How about, I am American?

and educate every child whether they are a citizen or not. THAT one just makes my blood boil.

That's about the only thing I think is good -- let ALL kids have a proper education

"I think Pat (and myself to a degree) fear that our huge Mexican wave will one day rule here the way they do in Mexico."

Wealthy Whites in Mexico rule the very poor Mestizo and Indians with a very small middle class.

True, argentian does have a higher GDP per cap than those countries you've listed, which are definitely developing (or in the case of Zimbabwe downwards, underdeveloped)

From The World Bank

For operational and analytical purposes, the World Bank’s main criterion for classifying economies is gross national income (GNI) per capita. In previous editions of our publications, this term was referred to as gross national product, or GNP. (More about this change in terminology). Based on its GNI per capita, every economy is classified as low income, middle income (subdivided into lower middle and upper middle), or high income. Other analytical groups, based on geographic regions and levels of external debt, are also used.

According to this, Argentina is a developing nation as is Beliza, Costa Rica, but both Costa Rica and Argentian are high middle income economies.

We have become nonjudgemental in the corporate, educational, political, and social spheres. We have rid ourselves of the power of shame.

This is good in some ways. People that should not be shamed can finally have a chance at happiness without being treated poorly by that which they cannot help. The rest of the people have internalized that they are unfit to cast judgement on others.

Yet they have determined they are unfit to cast judgement on ANYTHING now. Shame is not brought upon criminals, unwed childbirth, choice of lifestyle, or even nonassimilation.

Now we need to argue whose morality gets to make these judgements. We are at a stalemate so according to "The American Street" no judgements may be made at all. The only way to break through is to go through with an army of voices who do not fear the punishment for daring to judge: being called names.

If it cannot be helped, like race or parentage, or if it happens behind closed doors, like enjoying one's heritage culture or sexuality, leave it alone.

If choices are made to drive people apart or break down society, JUDGE! Judge openly! Tell why that choice is wrong for all of us.

Ya, only 3% of folks in America are illiterate. Sure, I believe it. "Literacy" must be defined as signing your name with something other than an "X."

I have greater faith in the superiority of American culture then Mr. Buchanan. I believe that the immigrants coming here are and will assimulate, just like they always have. This is not the first time immigration had supposedly "doomed" our country.

But these immigrants won't assimilate. The reason is simple: earlier immigrants were coerced into assimilating, there was no welfare state to attract malingerers (and so, we attracted harder-working immigrants than we now do, who were a net positive to the economy), and no bilingual education and allied social programs to erect and maintain ethnic ghettoes in perpetuity. As Milton Friedman famously observed, You cannot have open borders and a welfare state.
