It was funny. And there's no reason not to put kids in the audience. The GOP just shouldn't get defensive when they don't behave exactly right. Apparently, the WH didn't.

BTW, this was a kid who really wanted to see W, got little sleep the night before, and spent 3 hrs. or so listening to speeches.

The White House didn't get defensive, as it turns out. They were misquoted by the network, and therefore, by Letterman. Both apologized for the mistake. The boy's Republican father said it was hysterical.

I'm not saying it wasn't funny. It's just a cardinal rule in TV - you don't use children or animals.

I think what bothered me was the dems were trying to say Bush was boring - because that's what we say about Kerry. They're so juvenile - everything is payback to them.
