A sad irony here her mother is a behavioral specialist and Audrey's Major is Communacative Disorders. YIKES!!!!!!!!!

That is interesting, because my initial feeling about why she did this and what prompted this behavior was parental pressure.

The 4.0 av and other school stuff was what tripped my BS detector to begin with.

She wanted to get out of the situation and could not express this to anyone.

Add the chronic pressure and intelligence with the failure phobia and you have a big boom!(called schizophrenia or something close)

Add to the mix that she only transferred to the University 6 months ago....that 4.0 average is something she probably had to keep up from the last school. I had a very intelligent friend way back about 20 years ago at UCLA she came from a conservative catholic sheltered family. She went to college and just could not handle Los Angeles in the eighties, (it was quite wild). She gained 50 lbs and transferred to a community college part time. Got a job and used the tuition money for her own "spending" money. She kept this up for 3 years without telling her parents. I think she ended up ok, but I suspect it's a mild version of what Audrey is going through.
