I haven't been following this at all. Has anyone heard why this dumb broad walked out of her apartment without her purse at 2:30 in the morning. That would have been my first question to her.
To: Dr. Eckleburg
maybe i have missed some of your posts....are you suggesting this is terrorist related? Or are you suggesting that the "alleged" adbuctor is Muslim?
To: Queen Jadis
Sounds like damage control to me.Agree Queen! They looked like deer caught in the headlights to me...While I understand this level of media attention may freak any parent/small town folk out, someone needed to step up and make sense of all this...

If her story is confabulation or concoction, I can't say.
But a mental break is as possible as any scenario.
She is the right age to be a victim of the onset of schizophrenia or manic depression.
I heard from a friend of the family that regarding the Feb attack, there was actual medical evidence that she was clocked in the head from behind. I can't vouch for this or what the evidence might have been. I can speculate that it might have been bruising or swelling or blood at the site of the attack.
According to a roomate she had extreme difficulty sleeping after the first attack and was extra cautious about letting folks know where she was, and was always asking for friends to accompany her so she didn't have to walk alone.
IF she really was attacked the first time, but not this time, that doesn't mean she maliciously made up the abduction story. She might have been paranoid or delusional, or had some other kind of breakdown.
Traumatic brain injury could lead to confusion, depression, anxiety, memory loss, etc.
Stress, including such injury, can trigger mental illness.

no there is no explanation for her leaving her apartment at 2.30AM. WHich is hinky to say the least considering she filed a police report about a month or so ago, stating that she had been hit on the head, knocked unconscious and found herself two blocks away from the location of the assault.
BTW I am forcing myself not to make a sarcastic comment about this story.

Someting is dreadfully wrong with the way the police are handling this. Possibly a dangerous lunatic or terrorist is loose and public safety appears of little concern.
Maybe if parents start taking they children out of the U. of Wisconsin the authorities will become more fothcoming.
In any case, the more secretive the police are, the more it will fuel rumors and way out theories.

Hi Jackie! How are you? Sorry to hear about your daughter. Hope she is doing well. And that you are taking care of yourself.
Yes "deer in the headlights" look. I was going to describe it as "sheepish" but felt I should hold back....Just in case I am wrong about my take on this case.
To: Dr. Eckleburg
Yep. But this is about as much as we'll ever know. Be careful.
Am I asking too many questions? ;-)
To: Mjaye
hincky... Yep. But no chief in his right mind would risk saying that and being accused of being "insensitive". Or, worse yet, (though less likely) being proved wrong and then attacked by a coven of PC pressure groups.
So.... they'll just keep playing out the scene until the script ends. Look for a resolution over the weekend or early next week.

Could be one of several scenarios.
I am darn confused!

It's sort of like practicing defensive medicine.

What's really strange about the girl who showed up in South Dakota is that she apparently left her father's house on Sunday in Red Wing, MN (near my home) and never showed up to her job on Monday at a library in LaCrosse, WI....Police traced her ATM/Credit cards to transactions in Madison, WI then in South Dakota...she called her father last night to tell him of her "road trip" and that she needed a "break". Reports on local television say that she has been undergoing treatment for depression.
Wonder if the Audrey Seiler case interested her and she went to check it out....got scared then went the other way (South Dakota). Hmmmm.....

The way the police handled the distribution of the composite drawing is not consistent with them believing that Audrey was actually abducted by a real person fitting her description.
They would have had a big poster blow-up and given the best description possible at the "free" publicity news conference.
It seems to me they are walking the line between alienating the family/Audrey, and risking an innocent person being unfairly fingered, by handing it out to press but doing so without any fanfare or department-sanctioned camera time.

The police don't believe her story.
To: hdrider
Rocky. That's what I thought. Ought to make it easier to find the alleged perp.
To: Jackie-O; Queen Jadis
Still no description on hair or eye color? Not even a hint?
Hello, Queen. Always good to read your thoughts.

The composite looks like her. Look at the eyes and nose...A common trait in budding artists when doing portraits...they tend to make their subjects look like themselves. It's unconscious.
