I think you are absolutely right. However, beware the next step for the DemonRats is to try to charge Condi with perjury. Hillary wants her gone.

Well since the Polling data shows the Country believes Bush and Co, I suspect this is going to fade away soon. Going after Condi on a phony "perjury" charge means opening up Clarke, who is CLEARLY guilty of perjury (i.e. lied last week to 9-11 commission or lied last year to Congress)to a similar trial. Think Clarke will not roll over on whomever paid him off if the alternative is jail time? Clarke is an egomanical liar, if the hammer comes down, he will roll over on his paymasters in a heart beat.

If the media is too busy to cover stories outside this circus, would anyone hear the rebuttals from Kerry against those Bush ads?? Let me mind you that Kerry is low on cash now, and a few more weeks of unrelenting unanswered Bush ads will do real harm to Kerry among the swing voters. We are beginning to see that problem over the gallup poll.

Excellent observation! LOL. I'm sorry, but the Democratic antics displayed in the media has made me giddy today for some reason. The new Bush ad only stokes that giddiness.

Somebody must have "asked."

Boy, I hope this is a clever Republican ploy, and not one belonging to the demoralcrats.

Statement by the President
The James S. Brady Briefing Room

4:46 P.M. EST

THE PRESIDENT: Today I have informed the Commission on Terrorist Attacks Against the United States that my National Security Advisor, Dr. Condoleezza Rice, will provide public testimony. I've also advised Chairman Kean and Vice Chairman Hamilton that Vice President Cheney and I will jointly meet with all members of the commission in a private session.

This commission has been charged with a crucial task. To prevent future attacks, we must understand the methods of our enemies. The terrorist threat being examined by the commission is still present, still urgent and still demands our full attention.

From the day the panel was created, I have directed executive branch agencies and members of my staff to cooperate with the commission. Recognizing the exceptional nature of this inquiry, we have given commission members access to relevant presidential daily briefings, to my communications with foreign leaders, and to internal White House communications.

More than 800 members of the administration have been interviewed. More than 20 White House officials have met with the commission, or soon will do so. Dr. Rice, herself, has already met privately with the commission for four hours. I've ordered this level of cooperation because I consider it necessary to gaining a complete picture of the months and years that preceded the murder of our fellow citizens on September the 11th, 2001.

As the commission has done its work, I've also been concerned, as has Dr. Rice, that an important principle be upheld: A President and his advisors, including his advisor for national security affairs, must be able to communicate freely and privately, without being compelled to reveal those communications to the legislative branch. This principle of the separation of powers is protected by the Constitution, is recognized by the courts and has been defended by Presidents of both political parties.

We have observed this principle while also seeking ways for Dr. Rice to testify, so that the public record is full and accurate. Now the commission and leaders of the United States Congress have given written assurances that the appearance of the National Security Advisor will not be used as precedent in the conduct of future inquiries. The leaders of Congress and the commission agree -- they agree with me that the circumstances of this case are unique, because the events of September the 11th, 2001, were unique.

At my direction, Judge Gonzales has informed the commission that Dr. Rice will participate in an open public hearing. Our nation must never forget the loss or the lessons of September the 11th, and we must not assume that the danger has passed. The United States will confront gathering dangers to our freedom and security. The commission knows its responsibility: to collect vital information and to present it to the American people. And I know my responsibility, as well: to act against the continuing threat and to protect the American people. I have made that pledge to my fellow citizens, and I will keep it.

Thank you.

END 4:50 P.M. EST

The media pundits can never see this big picture as they are too much of an inside crowd to see the obvious.

Not only that. The DNC "News Media" and the hysteric Left are keeping the focus ON Terrorism!!!!! Kind of nice for your political foes to highlite their glaring weaknesses FOR you!

And it doesn't help Kerry that Bush has a new ad airing on TV, Kerry's slump in new polls, and the DNC's new "hero" Clarke is getting all the attention Kerry should be getting.

Most of the Republicans in the Senate make me sick, too. I hope the President tells them, "either you support me or you are all on your own". They know how much he has done to protect this country but they always cave to the RATS. I'm sure he views them as useless. At first I was angry that Condi is going to testify...after thinking about it for awhile, I am glad. It is time to fight back hard. Some freepers thought that the President looked tired when he made his statement...with all he has to deal with 24/7, I'm sure he is - however, I thought he looked somewhat angry, as well.

Just the kind of legal circus the trial lawyer's association loves to pursue brought to us by the In Judiciary We Trust Democrats. What a great way to spend tax money?

When the news broke that Condi was going to testify, some FReepers were saying that this would make Bush weak, and that the White House caved. I was in full defense of the White House and Condi all day today on these forums. When the news broke she was going to testify, I was pumping my fist in the air, because I knew sooner rather than later she was going to testify publically, because she's been saying she wants to. I could sense the confidence in her eyes, and it made me feel confident in her.

...Nobody, I mean nobody, will hear anything from Kerry for weeks!!! The media will be focusing on the WH, Bush, Clarke, Condi, and 9/11 commission blah blah...

Which explains the upcoming sympathy vote - the elective shoulder surgery. Kerry even flip-flops on his own health! Kerry takes a ski vacation, then the $3000 bike photo-op as his campaign talks about his upcoming shoulder surgery.

Come November, the swing voters won't give one whit about his idiotic shoulder surgery. I thought "big deal", I've seen guys lift heavy objects with bad backs and shoulders.

I'm sure Condi felt even more strongly about testifying after what 60 Minutes did to her Sunday night. Last night Brit Hume said that 60 Minutes left most of her interview on the cutting room floor.

Another airliner went down during the Clinton era that was provably due to a terrorist act. That was the downing of the Egypt Air flight in a suicide attack by the Egyptian co-pilot. In an act if pure cowardice, the Clinton administration caved to Egypt's insistence that there was no proof the co-pilot brought the plane down deliberately. In doing so, he hung those victims' families out to dry in terms of seeking justice. He also hung we, the American people, out to dry in terms of caving to the jihadists.

The most important witness in all of this is Osama bin Laden, himself. We have his words on one of his own videotapes saying the reason he expected to get away with the audacious plan that turned into the 9/11 attacks was due to the weak American response to his previous attacks against American interests here and abroad. That's the beginning and the end of the truth about what mistakes led up to 9/11. Don't need no stinking, preening, self-important, expensive "bipartisan" commission (with 70+ staff members) to tell us what Osama bin Laden already has told us.

No doubt they did. Her interview in total was no more than 7 minutes in length. Hardly an "at length" interview they were hyping all week about.

Missed my point - it's that he has an 'out' for not campaigning. Besides Kerry hurt his shoulder when one of Bush's attack ads hit him squarely on the facts.
