No need to post it three times, shellylet. We get your point.

Carlsbad huh? He should just have bought a toy gun, turned on every light and appliance in his house and waited for the narcs to bust down the door.

You have no idea what you are talking about. I live in a town, located on an island. What I'm referring to are developers who come in (usually from out of state) and "discover" us, log off substantial amounts of the forrested areas to build million-dollar homes, all the while fighting having to pay impact fees yet demanding services; the homes are purchased by wealthy retired folks who vote down our school and park bonds and then, having gotten their little piece of retirement heaven, insist that there be no more development. They turn out at city council meetings to protest any new employers coming in who might provide jobs in this economically depressed area because they might build something that would spoil their view.
So, yes, I'd like to see a lot fewer developers. Not all changes mean progress. And if you are one of those people I'm talking about, please accept my invitation to go back to wherever the hell you came from. My family has been here for four generations; I've earned the right to live here.

Ah, your last line. So, you've lived on the island for four generations. Well, four generations ago, your forbears came there. Now you're annoyed that others want to come there. Sounds like the same story to me.
Again, you don't want new folks buying property on your island and building their homes there? Buy all the property, and then you can control it.
I grow weary of folks who claim to be conservatives, but who take the attitude that they should be able to control property they don't own.
You don't own this land that's being developed, do you? Where, then, do you get the idea that you have any rights regarding property that does not belong to you?
The answer is simple. Buy the property. If you don't, then it is not yours, and you do not get to decide what happens to it.
Sorry.

I hope I go quietly in my sleep, like my Uncle. Not screaming, like the kids on the school bus he was driving.
LOL!

This has grown tiresome.
It is my sincere hope that someone will build a rendering plant next to your home (upwind). Since you are a man of principles, I'm sure you will hold fast to your position, suffer the smell, and not bitch about the decrease in the value of your property.
Good day to you, sir.

How nice of you. I do not recall you mentioning a rendering plant in your area...just million dollar houses. However, if a rendering plant was built upwind of me, and met the zoning laws in my area, then I would accept it. If it proved noxious, I would sell and relocate. Private property rights are a serious matter. Conservatives hold them dear. Liberals whine about people building what they don't like near them.
