Your family is in my prayers. A word of encouragement - my grandson was born 2 months early and weighed 2# l5 oz. - your pictures bring back memories of our visits to see him - he came home from the hospital about a month later at 5# (the day after Mothers Day) - that was almost 10 years ago - he now plays ice hockey, is an A student, and people can't believe he was a preemie!!!!!

Sorry, no pictures today....
Very good news with Anna today. First of all, she is 16 cc of milk/water (2/3 mild 1/3 water) every 3 hours. They also have removed her IV so the only tube is her feeding tube.
Even bigger news (literally) she gained just over 3 oz in the last 24 hours. She is now at 3 lbs 9.6 oz.!
God is definitely working in Annas health. The last estimate we heard of her being free of the IV was early next week IF she was tolerating the mild/water and keeping her blood sugar stable.
Praise God for the steady improvement in Anna. Yet more steps towards her coming home!

Best to all for your blessing. Now you will know what Love truly is. I remember when my first son was born my wife was over the moon and I happy as a clam. May God keep you in his hand.

Looking forward to more pics.Anna Report 4/9/2004
Yet another day of progress!
She gained no weight in the last 24 hours, but lost none either. Though when you consider that she is totally on milk/water and no IV to double up on fluids and nutrients, she is doing very well.
Big surprise today Nurse commented that Anna was a little pistol this afternoon (ha-ha). She was finally able to calm her down by giving her a bottle. The cool thing she actually nursed the entire bottle (18cc) and had no troubles with it! Theoretically, she is still a week+ from being at the magic gestational age to even start the swallow/nurse skill.
She is now at 70% milk at 18cc per feeding (every 3 hours).
She also was more alert that we have seen her. She kept her eyes open nearly the entire time we held her. She also is pushing herself up and moving herself around, both the incubator and when we hold her.
Amazing! Praise God!

What a princess. Its wonderful to watch her develop. They change so fast and are babies for such a short time. Enjoy it while you can. Thanks.
To: TheBattman
No weight loss for a 24 hour period is good. They don't put wieght on very fast right at first. Looks like she is doing great.
To: TheBattman
Thanks for the update. She sure is beautiful. I can't wait to see her. Looking forward to her FReeper meeting debut....maybe when Jim comes to visit in June. She should be plenty strong by then. Give my best to Diana and may God richly bless and keep all of you.

Naaahhh...I'm not prout---
Seriously - here is today's update:
All is well in Anna-land!
She gained 10 grams (.2 oz) in the last 24 hours.
She is now taking 24 cc of 70% breast milk every 3 hours.
She had been bottle-fed two times by the time we left this evening. Other than taking her time, she is having no trouble swallowing!
We got to keep her out of the incubator for three hours today. I held her for about an hour, while Diana held her for most of the remaining time (other than her 3:00PM feeding time). She was quite alert the entire time, keeping her eyes open the whole time.
Anna is doing wonderfully!
