I was in the audience for about a dozen Dick Cavett shows. The audiences were classic NYC liberal throngs.

Cavett said this was the hottest political issue of the day, and that the audience was balanced and highly engaged. Balanced? Cavett was an absolute disgrace as a moderator, Kerry was an extremely poised young man, and O'Neill appears to have been the token conservative patsy.
