Condoleezza Rice on 60 Minutes Live Thread [7pm EST, Sunday 3/28]
CBS News ^ | 3-28-04 | CBS News

I was waiting for this to go up. We're about t-minus one hour from it (depending on how long Duke-Xavier goes, I guess). Too bad it's not going to be a long interview like Clarke had. I've noticed that 60 Minutes are not promoting this either. The commercial I just saw advertised the story on soccer phenom Freddy Adu, not the story on Rice or Pickering. I also discovered from the link referenced above that Rice spoke to them this morning and not yesterday as I'd heard would be the case before. Bill Kristol predicted this morning that Rice might say that if this is really such a big deal that she'll testify in public under oath as she's been badgered to do. I don't think Bill has a good track record on predicting news, so take that with a grain of salt. By the way, go Xavier-- I had Duke losing before now in my office pool bracket, but my opponents have them winning it all.

Oh the questions that little Timmy could have asked Clarke.

On the post yesterday saying that Clarke was going to be on MTP and one other lib-hosted Sunday Show, my only comment was...

Figures

Russert is as soft ball as Crissie...

During his "Grapevine" segment Brit just listed a whole litany of items that Condi said in the interview...that never made it to air.

I think she did great and I said last night Bradley was in obvious hitman mode, and this confirms.

I didn't take notes of what all that Brit listed but heads up that she said much much more than we saw--just as we all suspected.

Exactly right about Russert.
He is a democrat.
His registration as an Independent means NOTHING.

I think that Brit said it was a 36 minute interview cut to 12 minutes.

60 Minutes edited it to what they wanted us to see.

Thanks so much for that update. I just asked on the thread America the Right Way what Brit said about that.

I heard the beginning and then the phone rang.

Wish I knew what 60 Minutes left out.

Anyone with info, please ping me. Thanks, cyn!

nothing personal, I apologize. its just that I see alot of post from people about "the networks are failing". sure, their news audience is shrinking, and that's good. But they are still very strong.

"still very strong"

I don't agree. If they were - CBS would have been able to run the Reagan movie.

When 60 Minutes did Chris Ruddy, they had hours of interview which they cut with 3-400 edits.

Ruddy's comment was that they never showed him finishing a sentence, that it made him look idiotic.

I have a video "60 Minutes of Deception" showing how it was done.

One enters the Goebbelsian-Riefenstahl venue at one's peril; don't feed the bears.

And that's Leslie Riefenstahl, ja.

Swordmaker:

Thanks for the reply. The acid test in my mind - had the situation you described happened, someone either at the White House or with the Bush campaign would certainly have responded. So far, I haven't seen anything to that effect, though it's possible I could have missed it. And it's also possible that Rice herself would have said something, given the admirable way she has defended herself throughout the 9/11 committee show trial.

Is it possible? Sure. Anything's possible. But I don't think it's likely, and I'm speaking as a veteran of hundreds of interviews on both sides of a camera myself.

Yes it does!

It means "I am middle of the road I don't take sides I am fair and balanced listen to my show and watch me be soooo neutral blah blah blah..."

LOL

That reminds me yesterday in the Market I saw a woman with a shirt that said "I see your lips moving but all I hear is Blah Blah Blah"

So I tapped her on the shoulder and looked her in the eyes, and said...Blah Blah Blah...

Of course I did!

One of my biggest problems in life is it is very hard for me to lie.

The lady looked at me, kinda grinned and then looked back to her line. She was in the checkout next to me. I bore easily, so if I am in line somewhere I start conversations and joke around.

Time goes faster if you are laughing...

The stupid spell checker didn't have a good substitute for "bombasted" so I left it as it was...Turkey Baster was NOT an option...

I needed this laugh.
