I was waiting for this to go up. We're about t-minus one hour from it (depending on how long Duke-Xavier goes, I guess). Too bad it's not going to be a long interview like Clarke had. I've noticed that 60 Minutes are not promoting this either. The commercial I just saw advertised the story on soccer phenom Freddy Adu, not the story on Rice or Pickering. I also discovered from the link referenced above that Rice spoke to them this morning and not yesterday as I'd heard would be the case before. Bill Kristol predicted this morning that Rice might say that if this is really such a big deal that she'll testify in public under oath as she's been badgered to do. I don't think Bill has a good track record on predicting news, so take that with a grain of salt. By the way, go Xavier-- I had Duke losing before now in my office pool bracket, but my opponents have them winning it all.

Yes but I do not see how to respond to the sort of mentality that is taken in by this if one does not own at least half of the media. There comes a point where one needs to take it out in the open what is going on and take your lumps. The segment that is going to be fooled you will never get, or at least some portion of it.
Again, I have never seen the media so aligned, not even during the Reagan years. Yes, that should have been live and with no editing, but no matter what you do you are going to get this.
I mean up until a few weeks ago all you heard was that Bush overreacted. it was one of Kerry's sound bites, for Pete's sake. In two weeks they have total reversed themselves. If the voter is this supine then we might as well not have any issues at all, lets talk about sports teams and decide that way. The GOP needs to focus the voter on all of these manipulation of reality and the entire lack of logical consistency. If they need to get up there and say that the board of CBS are all a bunvh of Demovrats then do it. This is the perfect moment and yet they do not rise to it. They must get over this.
A few more of these media moments and their goose is cooked.

And that would have stopped her from mentioning it in the intro to the piece how? I hate these people.

CBS will give a demoted career hack 2 segments to hit the President and THE National Security Advisor 1/2 of one segment to defend him.
We wasted 8 minutes of our lives, that's gone forver, to CBS.

I was quite surprised how fairly they portrayed Pikering's record. Schummer gave the Dem talking points but I don't see how anyone who watched this could support that position.
The segment with Condi was typical 60 Minutes. The stupid questions regarding Clarke's apology were what I would expect from them. Make her look evasive and insensitive by giving her questions for which there were no good answers.

Better than that, doesn't point 2 contradict point 1? She basically said, I didn't report it because I didn't know, but even if I did know, I forgot. She is as good a liar as Dickie Clarke!

I watched the 60 Minute interview. My opinion is that she was defending every word Ed Bradley took as gospel in Clark's interview. They gave Clark 2 segments last week. I would say they gave Condoleezza maybe 3 minutes total. They continued to go back and forth with cuts from Clark's interview and testimony. Additionally, Bradley kept cutting her off mid thought. The interview as just as I thought it would be. No such thing as fair and balanced for CBS or any other alphabet channel. Don't waste your time or tape for this one.

I'm with you on that sentiment. I hate what they are doing to my country with their lies. They really don't remember who attacked us. They think that 9/11 is something Republicans should apologize for!
I need to go do something else for awhile. We could have had a peaceful, happy Sunday family dinner here, but NO, I had to watch 60 Minutes....

its not "us" here on FR we need to worry about. its alot of other americans who either see it directly, or who will now consume this story as it filters down the chain of command in the media matrix. Exactly! As a former member of the flock of uninformed sheeple (way back, before Ronald Reagan), I can assure you - Clarke's testimony and media appearances, Condi's weak interview on 60 Minutes (along with her private testimony to the 9/11 Commission), biased above-the-fold headlines, biased sound bites and oft-repeated lies - WILL resonate with them.

they delude themselves into thinking the media is going to be fair to them.If one assumes the WH thinks this attack hurts them then I would agree. Experience ha shown that whenever Bush has been attacked on 9/11 for whatever reason his ratings increase.
If this is true, then the best thing the administration can do is keep the volley going back and forth. If the spike the ball the win the current game but everyone stops watching. If the keep the ball in play they avoid other issues.
The most powerfull statistic I saw in the last week is that Kerry only carries the trust of 52% of RAT support on the war/terror. 48% of his own party doesn't trust him.
To: Mo1
LOL I dunno.... I couldn't watch anymore after the Pickering interview. It wouldn't be surprised if that is what he said.

She looked lovely but had a startled expression on her face, caused by Bradley's hostile questioning. While I agree it Bradley was hostile, I completely disagree that Rice looked "startled" for one second.

The blacks interviewed that live in the south have a different view of a Pickering than the libs in Washington. Could it be that educated blacks in the south are more conservative than their brethren in the North? Or certainly not of the same mind, and think independently? Horrors!! I grew up in Alabama. Have lived all over: Florida, NY, Missouri, California, and Utah. Now I've moved back to Alabama.
Other than Utah, where there were no blacks, I find race relations FAR BETTER in Alabama than in those other places. Southern African-Americans are conservative and well-mannered...just like everyone else down here. Of course, they mostly vote for the donkeys because the party drags out the most racist, vile campaign material you've ever seen. (I found a doorhanger in the street depicting a black man with a boot on his neck. The boot had "Republican" stenciled on it.) It's changing, albeit slowly.

Without a doubt cBS did a real hatchet job in the Dr. Rice interview. The problem for them is that they over played their hand.
The bias is so blatant and demonstrable that we should call the folks at Media Research Center and Bernard Goldberg to come out and grill cBS for a few weeks. cBS has handed these folks exhibit 1A supporting what they have been saying for years. The lib elite media establishment went ballistic the last few times we exposed them for bias, there is no reason we shouldn't take these latest examples and shove down their throats!
The time to go on the offensive against the lib elite media is NOW! Their credibility must be seriously taken to task before this fall's election season. The more damage we do in exposing their blatant lies now, the less effective they will be when they try to pull the dreaded Oct. surprise.
IMHO, these people have declared propaganda war on us -- it is propaganda war we should give them. I am sick of swatting flies, let's drain the swamp!
To: cyncooper
What else did you think of the interview?
To: Bella
he asked some strong questions.Give us one example.
And if you come up with one, please provide Rice's answer.

"let's stop kidding ourselves here. " Yes, the fact is that this hasn't hurt the president.
However, the hearings this week should have hurt the Dems but Clarke's charges have mitigated that for now.
Many people read the NYTimes but only liberals believe what is in it.
