There were so many reasons, good and valid reasons, to go into Iraq.

The administration, IMO, should have made more of the fact that Iraq harbored and trained AQ terrorists. The public would have been even more supportive and have been largely supportive anyway.

They made a big deal over it- Powell even included it in his UN speech. Bush brought it up a number of times, etc. The press simply didn't harp on it because it was more interested in reporting that Iraq was NOT connected to 9/11, that al Qaeda would NEVER have anything to do with a secular country, Atta NEVER met an Iraqi in Prague in spite of the fact that the Czechs still insist he did, that the DC snipers were rightwing white deer hunters, that the anthrax mailer was a white guy with expertise in Ebola, not anthrax, and so on. And the press was also busy editing quotes and even attributing wholly fictional statements to Powell, Cheney, Wolfitz, Bush and so on. Not to mention the press was and is trying to sell us on the idea that all these Kerry campaign staffers are really loyal republicans. All this fabricated news they come up with takes up all their time it does. How can you expect them to report on the real news?
