Conservative headline:
292 Million Americans Boycott Anti War Protest !!
Just keeping things in the proper perspective !!

And a few took to the streets in COUNTER protest and had a wonderful time standing firm against the loonies.

Well, to be fair, that perspective isn't proper at all.

Not attending any of those protests is not a 'boycott' of them, nor is it an endorsement of the war on Iraq. The truth is, there are many motivated and passionate people against the war in Iraq and the way we are running the war on terror.

To be fair, Lorena Bobbit was motivated and passionate, too.

Being motivated and passionate isn't the fasttrack to being right, cogent, or particularly sensible. I think these folks are misguided.

But the people who stayed home had a variety of opinions on the matter - characterizing them as somehow for the war in Iraq or the War on Terror is unfair.

Enter "Liberation of Iraq" on Google and search news stories:
   Results 1 - 10 of about 295. Search took 0.06 seconds.

Enter "Iraq invasion" on Google and search news stories:
   Results 1 - 10 of about 1,650. Search took 0.07 seconds.
Enter "Iraq liberation" on Google and search news stories:
   Results 1 - 10 of about 79. Search took 0.04 seconds.

Simply change some news headlines and see how it changes the editorialized connotation:

"Gorbachev Calls Invasion of Iraq 'Big, Big Error'"

becomes...

"Gorbachev Calls Liberation of Iraq 'Big, Big Error'"

"Demonstrators mark 1 year since US invasion of Iraq"

becomes...

"Demonstrators mark 1 year since US liberation of Iraq"

"S. Africans protest US military invasion of Iraq"

becomes...

"S. Africans protest US military liberation of Iraq"

"Muslim organisations protest 'US invasion of Iraq'"

becomes...

"Muslim organisations protest 'US liberation of Iraq'"

"Voices of Dissent Against the Invasion of Iraq"

becomes...

"Voices of Dissent Against the Liberation of Iraq"

The media doesn't control what the people think - they just control what the people think about.
