There was a similar hatred of Clinton, but only among the most die hard conservatives (well, some liberals pretty much hated him too). It was pretty evident here on FR, still is to this day (I am not one of the haters however.) As much hatred as I saw for Clinton, I NEVER saw it as "mainstreamed" as the hatred for Bush has become. It comes down to partisanship. "The other side" hates it when your guy wins, and then does "well". They then invent or distort reasons to HATE him. It catches on especially well in groups that are prone to believing in Conspiracies, thus the Left REALLY gets into it.

I don't believe most here actually hated Bill Clinton. Some disgust, no doubt. They don't like Hillary's blatant dishonesty at all. Co-president, two for one, what a load.

"there was hatred of clinton"--You just hit on the reason the dem-rats hate Bush so much. He is the "anti-Bubba." President Bush is everything lyin' Bill could and will never be. He is honorable, says what he means and means what he says, believes in wrong and right and is not afraid to stand up and fight the good fight just like the last president the lib-dems hated--Ronald Reagan. Don't forget the coordinated DNC talking points that are going around now to get rid of Bush. The latest-- you will hear all the lib dems on the e-mail circuit touting is, "send bush back to crawfordville," just more bs talking points, but very well coordinated.

Hatred, yes; similar, no.

Hating Bush is an example of what Ayn Rand calls "hatred of the good for being the good"; whereas ...

Hating Clinton is an example of hating evil for being evil.

I hate Clinton and I'm not afraid to say so. He deserved it; to me it's clear the scum he was just by looking at him, and highly coincidental about all these nasty things swirling around him - Commie links, sex scandals, dead people......sorry, but he merits hatred from what I can see. There are such people that exist, and to me he's 1 of them.

No, it's not just cuz he's a Democrat. He's the only 1 so far (alive in my time) that I can think of really "hating". (Well, I guess we have to include Hillary in there, too.) I don't like alot of them, but none stirred me up like Clinton.
