SAN SALVADOR, El Salvador (AP) -- Media mogul Tony Saca easily won El Salvador's presidential race, promising to continue the direction of one of the most pro-U.S. governments in the hemisphere.
But the former Communist Party guerrilla leader who lost accused Saca of resorting to "lies, fear and blackmail" to win and warned that his party would fight a proposed free-trade agreement with the United States.

According to a report on the radio this morning, Saca becomes the youngest man ever to be elected President of El Salvador. I wish him and the Salvadoran people all the best.
As can be expected, hard-core leftists like Handal are such sore losers!

The outgoing president, Flores, was/is also great. I remember seeing him a couple of years ago in a meeting of Latin American leaders, where Castro is usually revered as a living god, publicly denouncing Castro to everyone's astonishment. Let's hope the new guy continues the same and helps turn the tide in that part of the world.
In that meeting, Castro also went after Spain's Aznar. This, in my opinion, showed at such an early date, that Aznar was someone on our side. In other words, if Castro doesn't like someone, he will probably be ok in my book.
