Iinteresting reporting. One could assume by this remark that he hiked up a 9000ft mountain to do this snowboarding. Media bias as it is I expect someone drove him to the 8999ft elevation point and he hiked past the 9000ft elevation point. It's not quite that good... but it's close.
Sun Valley (Ketchum) Idaho is at about 6300 ft to begin with so--contrary to the implied "9000 ft" climb he really climbed at most 3000 ft. not an insignificant hight but one I saw 70 + year old locals making on a daily basis... (cheerfully rather than b*tching the whole time)
