PRAYER WARRIOR FIELD TRIP!!!
In preparation for Memorial Day, put on your hiking boots, gather up a couple bouquets, place a fresh hankie in your pocket and march over to redrock's report of a conversation he had with a one-legged WWII veteran.

Praying for our Veterans, and their fallen friends, and for forgiveness - for not being there to welcome them home years ago.
Thanks for the field trip, TEX.
We will NEVER forget.
Thanks for the ping!
Post #579, wonder why this gif isn't working??
redrock's a great patriot, and I am enjoying his Memorial Day threads very much.
Through my tears.
Thanks for the ping to a great thread, TEXOKIE!
PRAYER WARRIOR FIELD TRIP!!
Join the men from Iraq whose hands were surgically removed by Saddam Hussein. They have been in the US for medical procedures to replace the missing limbs with modern prosthetics. One of their stops was to honor the soldiers serving to liberate Iraq at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
Be sure to have a couple of Kleenex. It is a surprisingly moving journey.

Bump!
Oppressed victims freed by our troops know our troops are liberators.
I think you'll like this one, TEX...a good companion to the "Prayer for Complacency":
Thanks for the ping!
That was wonderful TEXOKIE, I saved the pictures. This should be widely publicised.
Please put on your hiking boots and remember back to half a century ago to the days when our soldiers liberated Europe from the Hell of Nazi Germany. Let us all join in her thanks to the men and women who pay for our freedoms and way of life in their blood sweat and tears.
"I want to thank you for my existence. I want to thank you for your sacrifices, and for your courage, because without your heroism, this world would indeed be a different place. Were it not for the brave soldiers who liberated my father from Dachau, and my mother and her family from the Nazi slaveholders, I would not be here today. Nor would millions of others, all of whom remain indebted to you. ...."

I did it again! Let's do this again with the ping list!
In her post 590, Ragtime Cowgirl brought our attention to an article found on the pages of the Wall Street Journal. Barbara Makuch has written a thank you note to our men and women under arms.

Having a tough day TEXOKIE??? LOL :)
LOL! I didnt think so, but I'm reassessing that now.... :-)
It isn't new, but it is timeless.
On days when our troops are understandably angry, on behalf of their fallen friends, at the actions of a few enemies - at home and abroad - this letter stands as a reminder that our troops are liberators, and the oppressed will remember who fought for their freedom - as do ALOHA RONNIE's Vietnamese-Americans, now fighting communism from their community in California, with the help of Ronnie, and other's who fought to save them in another war.
Prayer bump for our beloved troops and Veterans, and prayer warriors - and prayer warrior leaders. *g*
PRAYER FOR PEACE, MEMORIAL DAY, 2004
BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
A PROCLAMATION
"For more than two centuries, Americans have been called to defend the founding ideals of our democracy. On Memorial Day, a grateful Nation remembers the proud patriots who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of liberty's blessings.
From the opening battles of the American Revolution through the turmoil of the Civil War, to World War I, World War II, Korea, and Vietnam, to the Persian Gulf and today's operations in the war on terror in Afghanistan, Iraq, and around the world, the members of our military have built a tradition of honorable and faithful service. As we observe Memorial Day, we remember the more than one million Americans who have died to preserve our freedom, the more than 140,000 citizens who were prisoners of war, and all those who were declared missing in action. We also honor our veterans for their dedication to America and their sacrifice...."
