Spiff, the following is merely California law, but it not an uncommon provision in many state's penal codes. If these perps were disturbing the peace (duh!) or threatening Miss Purvis or committing an assault (does not require actual contact to be an assault, just the threat), then the following kind of provision could afford her some measure of protection.
(185.) Section One Hundred and Eighty-five. It shall be unlawful for any person to wear any mask, false whiskers, or any personal disguise (whether complete or partial) for the purpose of:Also, the refusal by the police to act to protect Miss Purvis could very well be actionable under 42 USC 1983 as a violation of her civil rights.
One--Evading or escaping discovery, recognition, or identification in the commission of any public offense.
Two--Concealment, flight, or escape, when charged with, arrested for, or convicted of, any public offense.
Any person violating any of the provisions of this section shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor. [source]

I'm sooooooo confused.
Source?
By their own declaration. They are "antiAmerican" separatists (and possibly hispanic supremacists).
What is it about "U.S. Out of North America" did you not understand?
They don't even like Amerigo Vespucci's name being tagged on this land. They prefer "Aztlan".
I am speechless ...
I waited for them to display or yell obscenities. Once they did, I went to the closest police officer (who wasn't very close, by the way) and reported it, stated that I had my children there, and insisted he do something about it. He refused and remained in his position outside the park. And he was a "supervisor".
The Aztlaners called in reinforcements until they had 8 to 10 behind the rally group. Most were masked. The shouted obscenities. They told Yeh Ling Ling, a speaker at the rally who is from China, to "Go back to Europe!". Terry Anderson, noted talk show host who is also a black mechanic from South Los Angeles, came back to talk to the group. They called him a "racist."
All the while several people went to the police to have the loud, disruptive, masked, and obscene Atzlaners moved away. They refused. When tempers flared the police moved in to protect the Atzlaners.
Half way through the rally a large group of black-shirted, masked punks came into the park and stood right in the middle of the rally group. They were shouting obscenities and being generally hostile. I was forced to move my children to a fallback safe position to the side of the rally.
These thugs carried signs like "U.S. out of Atzlan!" and chanted "Viva la Raza!" and then they would call US racist. The police surrounded them to protect THEM. It was one of these punks that had his mask pulled down by the 80-year-old woman. I saw her talking to the police and the policeman was writing on a form - I had no idea that they were writing HER a citation.
I went to talk again to the supervisor about the hositility and disruption being displayed by the punks. I explained that the organizers had a permit, reserving the park and that the amplified sound was disrupting the proceedings of the rally. He refused to do anything.
Glenn Spencer from the microphone on the podium asked for the police to move the disrupters away and stated he had a permit and reservation for exclusive use of the park area. He also stated that the disrupters were using "fighting words" which warranted police action. The police did nothing.
I want to thank Sasafras for helping me and my family back to the parking garage - for watching my six. I had enough to deal with because I had 3 kids, a 1-year-old baby in a stroller, and a full-size Border Patrol Agent dummy used in the rally. I had my hands full. Sasafras's assistance was very welcome at that exact moment. Luckily, we weren't acosted by any of the thugs.
The only FReepers I know who attended the rally were myself, Sasafras, and idratherbepainting. I think that we should call the Tucson Police Department and the Mayor to ask them to account for their inaction that may have lead to violence at the event. And the fact that an 80-year-old woman would be charged for tugging down some punk's mask. What occured in that park is intolerable.
This isn't the first time that Aztlaner punks have disrupted one of Glenn's rallys. He held one in L.A. on the 4th of July and brown-shirted, uniformed Aatlaner punks showed up and physically beat some of the rally attendees. There are pictures of that rally on the Internet and it was reports of that rally which first acquainted me with Glenn Spencer.
If anyone doubts that there is an invasion occuring, that enemies of the United States are pouring across our border, and that they can be and are hostile to Americans, then you're not paying attention.
fyi ...
