Socialists claim Spanish victory

March 15, 2004

SPAIN'S opposition Socialist Party today claimed victory in the nation's general election and said it was in a position to form a government.

An official count of 77 per cent of the ballots showed the opposition Socialists (PSOE) with a clear lead.

The ruling Popular Party (PP) had 37.1 per cent of the vote and the Socialists 43.1 per cent, the interior ministry said.

The turnout stood at 77 per cent.

If this is true then this is a win-win for the terrorists!

Would only offer a thank-you to all the 'sheepla' of Spain.

The libmedia, of course, will translate the facts a bit differently.

Osama thinks he just avenged his ancestors being driven out of Spain 1300 years ago.

I say its time for another Crusade.

Well that's an optimistic take. I hope you're right and the Socialists show some backbone against terrorism, although the Spanish electorate has served to embolden the terrorists with their craven surrendur to the terrorists' dictates.

They are targeting all of us. I still remain amazed at our patience in our great country the USA. Let's hit them before they strike again. Hell if were dealing with the mafia we would deal with them. Thugs are Thugs. Kill them all.

Correct BushFan, this only worked becuase of the timing, not giving the government enough time to marshall a case as we had in 9-11. That is, the case that their motives are irrelevant and considering them is a concession to them.

AQ will be sorely disappointed with the long-term reaction in Europe over this.

AQ may need funds- just threaten Spain and they have their own piggy bank.

I wonder if Spain needs to buy any oil from Iraq?

I 99% sure I'm right on Spain. I hope I'm wrong regarding Europe too. But just look at their history? They allowed 6 million people, maybe more, to be incinerated. They never batted an eye.

Europe is weak and dying, it has neither the motivation nor the strength to prevail against Islam in her midst. Perhaps, should some symbolic place be laid to waste, the Eiffel Tower, St. Peter's Basilica, etc., they could be roused to survival but the madmen Moslems aren't that stupid. They will avoid hitting any target with the capacity to unite the world against them.

They are smart, and they haven't achieved enough success yet to become arrogant and allow that to cloud their judgement and/or actions. They are the most dangerous enemy any Nation/State has ever faced.

"...Socialist Party today claimed victory ..."

See. This is what happens when you share a border with France!

Seriously, this should not be a surprise. If you'll recall, the Spanish Civil War back in 1936-1939 was a Communist attempt to overthrow the existing government. If Franco hadn't won, all of Europe would have eventually been behind the 'Iron Curtain'.

They"ve got 8 months or so to plan similar acts before our election to try and turn the tide. I would like to think that would backfire on them in the USA. But I didn't think the Spaniards would cave either.

911: US Emergency Number
311: US Non-Emergency Number
112: EU Emergency number

(112 = US presidential elections, November 2, 2004)

Spain is no pacifist nation, she's intensely nationalist. If you just looked at press coverage of our demonstrations you'd think the same of us at present.

The PSOE isn't a pacifist party either. Take a look at their long policy history relative to ETA. Pacifism in Spain works like pacifists in the US more than in the UK. That is, a militant policy is ignored or supported by the pacifist sector if it's taken by the PSOE (or the Democrats here) and opposed if it's taken by the PP (or GOP here).
