O'Reilly has been so right about this secularist, no judgements ever, thing.

This is starting to get serious with all that's going on from these wacko, secularist, anti-judgement, pushers.

I do, not solemny affirm, that I will tell the truth as I see it, the whole truth, more or less, and nothing but the truth except for book, movie and TV embellishments, so help me Perry Mason!

Does this guy have lifetime tenure or does he have to stand for re-election?

What business is it of the court what religion the witnesses/defendants/litigants are? That sort of information could only bias a jury. Everyone should have the right to a fair trial, regardless of their religion. That means nobody should know the religions of the parties involved unless they volunteer the information or it is somehow relevant to the case.

Let it simply be asked, Where is the security for property, for reputation, for life, if the sense of religious obligation desert the oaths which are the instruments of investigation in courts of justice? -- George Washington, Farewell Address

If he doesn't like hearing "so help me God" he can quit and find some job were he won't have to hear it. Jerk.

"Honeycutt is one of nine judges who preside over District Court sessions in the 22nd Judicial District, which includes Alexander, Davidson, Davie and Iredell counties. He wrote that his request applies only to his own sessions, not to those presided over by other judges."

Checking him out, Honeycutt is not a federal judge. I wonder what kind of an oath he took when he was sworn in? The problem with most judges, is they like to be senators, congressmen, and yes presidents. To many want to rewrite our Constitution. The way the supreme clowns arrived at the so called establishment clause is the biggest joke dumped on the American public. In my opinion, judges should be reeled in, and be held to term limits.

"I believe that the burden should not be on those individuals to speak up and request an oath that does not mention God or use the Christian Bible," Honeycutt wrote.

This is nothing but looking for face time; this guy must be running in November.

I've been a court reporter in North Carolina and we ALWAYS ask people if they want to SWEAR or AFFIRM.

Gawd, I hate these people.

"...If a person lies, no matter what oath they've taken, they've committed perjury."

Unless, of course, it's "just about sex."

Wait a minute. Isn't an oath considered a sacred vow, and if you don't swear to God, then your words are not really an oath at all?

Judge James M. Honeycutt said in a letter that the court system is seeing an increasing number of people from other cultures that are not necessarily Christian.

Uh, OK, Your Honor.

I guess that settles it. People from "other cultures" are moving in - vast numbers of them illegally - so let's change our culture to accomodate them.

This pitiful excuse for a judge needs to be voted out of office and find another line of work where he isn't representing anybody but himself, as he is now!

Christians are forbidden from taking oaths by Jesus. Therefore, removing a reference to God from Satan's oath is a good thing.

Jesus said, "Again you have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not swear falsely, but shall perform your oaths to the Lord.’ But I say to you, do not swear at all: neither by heaven, for it is God’s throne; 35nor by the earth, .... But let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No.’ For whatever is more than these is from the evil one.

Okay. Just shoot the critter up with sodium pentithaul (I don't know about the spelling-truth serum...duh..) and ask if they plan to tell the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth.
