China (human rights abuse capitol of the world) is part of the pointing finger on the 51 Mexicans they want to "protect." The problem they raise is that the Mexicans were not provided with counsel from their home country.... I wonder how many Americans have been refused counsel in so many foreign countries, and not protected like these murderers, thieves, rapists, etc. In Mexico they would skate, here they face death sentences. I suggest we stand firm and make them examples for others who think they can come to our country to do evil things.

Police allege Mohammad Momin Khawaja, 29, of Ottawa "did knowingly participate in or contribute to, directly or indirectly, an activity of a terrorist group, for the purpose of enhancing the ability of a terrorist group to facilitate or carry out a terrorist activity" and "did knowingly facilitate a terrorist activity."

The crimes are alleged to have taken place "on or between November 10, 2003, and March 29, 2004, at or near the City of Ottawa, in the Province of Ontario and at or near the City of London, England."

Scotland Yard offered no details on the case, saying it does not comment on arrests in other countries.

On Monday, British authorities arrested eight men as part of an anti-terrorism sweep in London and across south-central England. (Full story)

Khawaja, a Canadian-born citizen, appeared in court Tuesday after he was arrested at work a day earlier, where a search was conducted, the RCMP said. A search warrant was also issued for Khawaja's Ottawa-area home.

His next court appearance is scheduled for Friday.
