Yeah, The Clash were left wing socialists. Jello is a nut job.
I think Henry Rollins from Black Flag might be a conservative.
There are a lot of conservative musicians out there. Just had a great idea though.

The Bush/Cheney team should do a commercial with people like Johnny Ramone and other rockers that are conservative and put it on MTV and VH1 and other channels.

The RNC is always desperate to hook up with star power any way they can, even if the connection is thin. I note they tried to get Oprah Winfrey to tour with Bush campaign, because the RNC would embrace any star even politically moderate. Oprah wouldn't go, but I note that her recent interview with Condaleeza Rice could not have been more favorable.

The Bushies invited Chloe Sevigny to a press dinner because her brother is a Republican. Or something like that.

FYI:

Punk Rock web site launched for Conservatives

... this site boasts conservatives from well-known artist Michale Graves of Gotham Road and former lead singer of the Misfits, to conservative talk show host and former rock jock Andrew Wilkow, to the average person on the street. This site has been created to counteract the multiple liberal punk sites on the web, which are run by only a small number of punk artists who are choosing to make up the minds of thousands of voters.

Johnny seems to be somewhat private now that he is retired (he reportedly turns down a lot of attempts at interviews).

Maybe all of this renewed liberal activism as well as this growing conservative activism is finally getting him motivated to speak out about his politics.

Certainly with all of the leftist punks and "rockers" trying to hijack the music as being something only leftists can love is something Johnny may be counted on to challenge.

One reason that punks despised hippies is that they saw through all of their BS. They saw the hypocrisy. They saw the first pangs of Political Correctness and the little dictators that pushed it. Leggs McNeil discusses this (and their rejection of PC) in Please Kill Me, the oral history of punk.

All you need to know about today's Bush hating war protestors is that they never took to the streets to protest Bill Clinton's wars. They never graffittied "Stop" signs over any of his bombing strikes.

We know that Saddam was funding some of the antiwar movement. We know that global socialists (and pro-Stalinists) and black shirted anarchists were promoting the global anti(American)war/proPalestinian war protests.

Saddam was a Stalin loving socialist.

I think Henry Rollins from Black Flag might be a conservative.

I saw his spoken-word show a few weeks ago; he definitely has some conservative tendancies — in fact, he went on a mini-tirade about Teddy Kennedy being a bloated, alcohol-ravaged murderer — but he also said Bush shouldn't be re-elected, citing the PNAC Web site among other things.
