I do know that Basques are blonde-- Aryans in the midst of the sallow French.

Aryan and Iran come from the same root word meaning noble. Iran means the land of the Aryans, and I have never met a blond Iranian.

The Americans that I have met of Basque origin all have black hair and very light skin. But I have only met about half a dozen, so perhaps your experience is different from mine.

On the other hand, I have never read anything that connects the Basque to the Aryans who are Indo-European. The Basque speak a language unrelated to any of the other Indo-European languages like English, German, Russian, Spanish, Farsi (Persian spoken in Iran), or Hindi (one of the 300 languages spoken in India).

I believe Mamzelle is thinking of Castillians..

Seems to me IIRC, that Basque is an ancient "base" or "root" language, possibly Indo-European, but one of the earliest languages known to man and still spoken.

Are the Basque in the Pyranees?

As for the language, surely it is related to something. Even Gypsy (or Rom) is related to Sanscrit.
