So much for the early proclamations regarding the Basques. Well, you've got to admit that past history made it a valid suspicion. ETA has killed enough folks that it would be the obvious first choice.
At the same time, however, Spanish officials were also very clear about the bombing not following "standard" ETA practices -- so I'll give them credit for rational thought processes.

My God is better than your God and mine tells me to kill you so don't be suprised when I try. Like it or not (IMHO) it is going to come down to Islam against the rest of the world.

Since when is Spain the great satan? Why wasnt I informed of this change?Spain was Muslim for about about 7 centuries after its conquest by Muslim armies. The Muslims never got over being kicked out by the Reconquesta in the 15th century.
The reinvasion of Spain by Muslims began some years ago through immigration. The military phase has now begun.

I wouldn't be suprised if this turns out to be one of those "something big"s that we always here about from Al Queda.

This is strange, however. I would have thought that Kerry would have told the Saudi terrorists (Al Qaeda) to knock it off until after the election. Every blast outside the US and not in the US is proof that Bush's Homeland Security measures are working.
Maybe, Kerry's wife, the Widow Heinz, can make it clear through some of her ultra-anti American contacts what they risk losing by making Kerry look worse than he is.
What did Kerry know and when did he know it. Why didn't Kerry stop his international supporters from murdering all those Spaniards?

They did the same thing on 9/11 -- left Koranic books in their car. I don't think it's "inevitable" that they leave evidence. I think it's "intentional". i.e., a calling card...

Just wait. Now he can say that America's war on terrorism has forced the terrorists to find other targets. "Oh, look at how we've destroyed Europe."
What did Bush know, and when did he know it?

While I know this is, in a sense, exciting to many of us here, Rush Limbaugh really had the right take on this BEFORE this announcment when he opened his show today: Bush announced a "war on terror," NOT a "war on al-Qaeda." ALL of these terrorists are evil, and they are all in the same networks of weapons dealers, arms suppliers, and hate-mongers.
I think strategically we are just as well off if it ISN'T the "religion of peace."

I'm fairly certain I've seen articles about ETA/Al Qaeda links. Here's one site which downplays such links but nonetheless includes the following interesting information:
Basque Fatherland and Liberty (ETA)
Does ETA have ties to al Qaeda?
No. ETAs secular nationalist agenda has nothing to do with the Islamist fundamentalism of Osama bin Ladens terrorist network, and there is no credible evidence of any systematic cooperation between ETA and al Qaeda, experts say. But Qaeda cells have been discovered in Spain. In November 2001, Spanish authorities arrested eight men suspected of being Qaeda operatives involved in the September 11 attacks. One of these men reportedly had past links with ETAs unofficial political wing, Batasuna, which the Spanish Supreme Court banned in March 2003. In September 2003, Spanish judge Baltasar Garzon said the September 11 attacks were partially planned in Spain.
