Well, you're close. In Pakistan, which is the only Islamic country I've been in, the toilet is a ceramic hole in the floor. To be clear, it is at FLOOR LEVEL.

It's immediately apparent that many men miss the hole on a regular basis. (I wouldn't know about the women's room, of course.)

My first inclination was to hike up my trousers a couple of inches, just to be safe. I threw away my shoes as soon as I returned home to the States.
