A woman said to him "Sir..you smell" to which he replied "No madam. You smell. I stink." I thought it was "You, sir, are drunk," and then Winston Churchhill said "But tomorrow I shall be sober and you, Madam, will still be ugly."

sir winston was known for a number of these. Another was the same woman, a british aristocrat whom he often sparred with. At this particular occasion the woman ,taking exception to his tippling said "sir winston if I was your wife I would poison your tea" . to which he replied "madam , if you were my wife I would drink it".
