March 8, 2004 -- Martha Stewart's ex-husband, Andy Stewart, feared the princess of perfection's long-held habit of telling whoppers would one day trigger her downfall, a former business partner told The Post yesterday. Norma Collier, who was Martha Stewart's first business partner when they started a catering business in Connecticut in 1974, said yesterday that Stewart's self-made disaster was "very sad" - and almost inevitable.

She has been publicly humiliated in the worst way. This is what's killing her, a huge blow to her bloated ego. She will serve 14 months or so which is no big deal. It's the public humiliation which is also trashing the value of her enterprises.

IOW, when she emerges from prison she will be worth 100 million instead of 500 million

Isn't it enough for you that the judge through out the count that would send her to prison for 10 years mandatory? Why on earth do you think rules should be applied situationally.

Notice the mistaken notion of the meals on wheels "punishment". The idea is that Martha would be "helping" people. No, the idea of ppunishment should be to take someone out of hte idea that they are in the position of helping others. The penitent is the one who neeeds the help. She is not is a position to give it. This is why the liberals and the left have "corrections" all wrong.

Martha's clumsy attempt at tax evasion gives her yet another thing in common with good ol' Sam Waksal...

On 3/3/03, Samuel Waksal, founder of ImClone Systems, pleaded guilty in Manhattan federal court to conspiracy and wire fraud arising from a scheme to evade over $1 million of state sales tax on art he had purchased. The basic scheme was to purchase expensive art for delivery out of state but for its real use in New York City. Sometimes empty boxes containing the art actually went to New Jersey and came back shortly to New York city; sometimes empty boxes were sent to New Jersey and the art itself went from the gallery to the New York city residence.
