Bush, Fox, promote plan to ease immigration laws

Crawford, Texas - President Bush and Mexican President Vicente Fox joined forces Saturday to promote Bush's plan for easing immigration laws, as Bush acknowledged that the proposal faces a tough time in Congress.

Standing side-by-side in bright sunshine at Bush's Texas ranch, the two leaders said Bush's plan for a new temporary worker program would help both countries by eliminating the underground market for Mexican workers. The proposal would let an estimated 8 million workers who are in the United States illegally gain legal status as guest workers.

"The people who come to this country make a significant contribution to the American economy," Fox told reporters.

Bush's plan, announced in January, has raised expectations in Mexico and among illegal workers in this country, but it has little chance of passing Congress this year. Republican critics say the proposal would reward illegal immigrants; Democrats complain that it does not do enough to help foreign workers become U.S. citizens.

They're flaming up all over the place, the room is about to flashover then all the flammable material will be burned and all that will be left is the concrete truth... hold fast, they'll run out of fuel.

We are divided on this issue amongst us and that is too bad, because we need immigrants like we always had.

Sure do remember Iberian. And I remember thirty years ago we didn't have all these illegals and we got along just fine.

Now if you happen to be an employer that hires these illegals, then maybe you do need them if you're not much of a businessman.

Myself? I don't need 'em!

Besides... NOBODY wants to run for office as the ONLY President who ordered mass deportations of illegals immigrants. He will NEVER be re-elected.>>>>>>>

So let GWB put up a *secure* poll on his WH web page.......I saw a poll in PA the other day.......95% deport immidiately........4% create 'guest workers'.......1% do nothing

GWB knows what the citizens want, he just doesn't care.

Why do businessmen turn to illegal workers? High cost of employment with taxes, insurance, and wages. So if you take away the incentive by making business pay them as legal tax paying employees, then the incentive to hirer them in the first place is gone. Increase fines on the businesses, and you have the beginning of a workable solution. Illegals register to get higher paying jobs, we find out who they are, business loses incentive to hire them. Win-win.

Perhaps you would like all Americans who abuse drugs, are on welfare, don't pay their taxes, are costing us in medical insurance to all be deported? >>>>>>

Perhaps if our *systems* weren't so clogged with illegals, these agencies would then be able to remove our own 'native cheaters'.

The Irish did it, the Italians did it, some of your parents might have done it. A TICKET TO THE US, because it is the greatest opportunity in the planet.
Oh one minor detail, now you need them more than ever.

Keep in mind that the enemy hides not in dormitories inhabited by hard working people by among st you all.

Americans will recognize who is who right away and the differences will be obvious.
Examine,Expidite and expel the obvious or send them to Guantanamo.

Where have I specifically argued against re-electing Bush?

Let's see. You responded to a disagreement I had with another poster, who implied Bush should not be re-elected..by arguing with ME...NOT the other poster.

Was this supposed to tell me that you agreed with me on Bush being re-elected?

Is President Bush purposely trying to throw the election, or what? I do not understand this move at all. Am I missing some sort of secret plan?

It puzzles me too! Every poll you see has Ketchup either leading Bush or in a dead heat. They can't all be dem polls.

I know the man is mule headed and we hear all the time that he says what he means and means what he says.

But if there was ever a time to fall back and regroup, this is it! He has to stop pissing off his base. He has lost my vote for sure. Not only for this but by spending money even the way a drunken sailor would not.

Of course, he won't miss my vote as he doesn't stand a chance in hell of taking California.

Illegal Immigration

Census 2000 results indicate that there between 8 and 11 million illegal aliens living in the United States in 2000. The Center for Immigration Studies has reported that Census Bureau stats show that 700,000 to 800,000 new illegal aliens were settling in the U.S. each year during the late 1990s and that around 1 million settled in the most recent year of record. Far more than that enter illegally each year, but there is a lot of back and forth. The 1 million represents illegals who truly settle in for at least a couple of years, and usually much, much longer.

If there were 8 to 11 million here in 2000, it is assumed that the number is much higher now. I call this an invasion.

I think your stats are a little goofy.>>>>>>>

Wasn't janetgreen talking about the stats from CA??? (& I doubt ALL ilegals were counted)

According to the US Census of CA......."White persons, not of Hispanic/Latino origin," percent, 2000....46.7%

30 years ago you did not understand the ifrastructure and you still don't. I think you need them, unless you don't want your salad or your essentials and can go in a restaurant and just say I'll take the "only" choice.
Oh remember to hurry, because there are 400 people lined up.

Excuse me Jorge! Eisenhower did! Okay, so he only deported five million. This time it will take a little longer. But at least he had the huevos to do it!

So you're telling me that Bush should order the mass deportation of 10 million illegals and expect to be re-elected in November.

Please tell me you're joking.
