McAuliffe has said he would step down after this campaign. Kerry wants him gone now b/c he's seen that McAuliffe is not working in his interest--he's too tied to the Clintons. Kerry is really in a difficult position. McAuliffe will probably continue to work against him, but if he ousts him, then the Clintons will take off their gloves and go after him even harder. He now has something that Hillary wants but does not wish to work for it. A fitting commentary for a socialist.
I still think she'll wait until 2008 to face off against whomever, when she will have greater distance between her candidacy and the Republican-core-energizing x42 legacy, AND be able to face a "lame-duck successor". It won't be VP Cheney, however, but some younger surrogate.
I think DM pursues some other agenda when he opines about a Hildabeast run, though I don't know what it may be. He may simply be needling her. I know there's no love lost there...
