Most of the time I find this judge a jerk. In this instance, he's 100% correct.

He's right, I don't care for the Patriot Act either. I think a version of the Patriot Act does need to exist, but it needs to be revamped and it needs to exclude any prosecutable act other than Terrorism in my opinion.

Those who believe that our freedoms are guaranteed and cannot be legislated away by Congress remain committed to the repeal -- not the renewal -- of this overreaching legislation.

Gee. Kinda like the 2nd Amendment, huh, judge?

Yes, and replace it with the "Non-citizen Muslim Act of 2004".

All non-citizen Muslims are to be returned to their place of origin within 60 days. After thorough investigation, those worthy of return shall be readmitted. They will, however, be closely watched.

He was a judge, of the non-activist variety that most of us here supposedly prefer. I'll stick with the Constitution as written.

If the government can get evidence against you from your financial institution under the guise of national security -- i.e., without a showing of probable cause -- but use it in a criminal case against you, then the Constitution's guarantees have been shredded. But you know that already.

Sounds conservative to me.

"which he defined as "the right to be let alone" "

That is the arguement they used in Roe v Wade. The "right to privacy".

Not in the Constitution judge...never has been.

Since I work for a financial institution, I know exactly what they require for Patriot Act.

Name, SSN, DOB and Address. Yup, evil information there. Oh wait, they also happen to use that info to pay taxes. Guess the 1040 is evil too. Well, it is...but not in that way.

10-4 on that Trout Stalker. The Govt. and the Law Enforcement think that they have the right to hassle anyone they deem necessary, yet they won't do profiling to catch the real criminals, so they just hassle all of us instead to make it fair.

Yesterday I had to go through 3 damn road blocks on 3 different streets and the cop checked my liscense, ins. card & registration each time, while the Drug Task Force Nazi and his K-9 walked around my car looking through every window and so forth. The Patriot Act along with these Nazi like cops who look at us like were all drug dealers are really pissing me off.

Actually, he's one of the few talking heads I can stand to listen to..
and in this instance, he's still 100% correct.

Working for a financial institution, you apparently forgot several big ones, like reporting cash transactions above a threshhold and multiple ones just below that threshhold. You could be in big trouble if you're not doing that.
