In 59, refineries were very archaic. I paid 29 cents a gallon at Mobil in 1972. I dont think you can compare business models from 59, with 2004.

Premium has in the last 4 weeks, gone from 1.79 to 250 in So. California. There is no rational reason for this!!

Actually, there are a number of rational reasons :) From OPEC, to refinerery capacity, to additive problems, increased consumption. Could be worse. Were you around for the energy crisis in the 70s?

Well, we can't have archaic and eat it, too.

That 29 cents is about a clam-65 now.
