The Senate Republicans aren't smart. They have let the deomcrats run the show from day one and there is a total lack of leadership by the Republicans in the Senate. They were not setting up the Dems and the Republicans just got played, straight and simple. If they wanted to set up the Dems, they would have voted as a block against all amendments to get Democrats on record on being against tort reform for gun laws. Then Frist would have let the AWB and all the other crap come to a vote as a package on the floor and let the dice fall where they may. Seeing that Delay would be on the conference committee or help Hastert pick the committee and he can control what comes out. This was just poor leadership by Frist and the Republicans.
