That's what you said about CFR, nea increase, etc CFR was going to pass the house anyway. They had a petition and overruled Hastert.
CFR was a feel good measure. Like it or not people don't care about the consequences of CFR. People see it as not having those nasty political commercials ruining their watching "Friends". It doesn't affect people.
The AWB ban is different. Reps in their districts will be haering from gunowners and those votes ccan sway elections.

The House is more conservative than the Senate. The Senate has quite a few RINOs who are the swing votes between GOP conservatives and the liberal Senate Democrats. That's not the case in the House, where most Republicans are pro-gun.
