That's the first cogent thing you've said! I was guessing before seeing the roll call. We'll call it 80% in the Senate, at least 90% in the House. Still the vast majority, and some want to throw the baby out with the bath water, punish the good for the sins of the wicked.

Tom Delay and Karl Rove have both said the AWB is dead. You're free to be paranoid, and by all means continue to pressure your representatives, but it just ain't gonna pass.

I watched the vote on C-span2 an am now more than ever sure that there isn't a cup of spits difference between dems and repubs. They are all the same,once in D.C. I'll see what happens in the conferance committee, where gun rights is an issue that can determine elections.

And since gun rights is an important issue in many house districts, I suspect that the AWB ban will lapse.

Unlike CFR in which there are not 80 million people who make that an important issue.

It's not like I can really trust Bush or Delay either one to do the right thing.
