No, there is no third option. Marriage in one state has to be recognized by other states. Obviously, lacking an amendment, some states are going to legalize gay marriage.

I agree. Sullivan is just unreadable these days and it's not just on the gay marriage issue.

He's having panic attacks on almost everything and he's projecting that to his blog.

Marxism pure and simple. Hollow out the institutions and when they are weak turn them on their heads. Give them new radicalized, revolutionary definitions and functions. This is well under way. Look at the mainstream protestant churches! Look at the mayor's office in SF! Look at the courts!

OK call me a simpleton but what would be wrong with INFORCING federal and state laws already on the books?How about arresting these "officials" performing the ceremonies? and letting it be known that these fraudulant unions will not be recognized by any state or federal institution?
