It's interesting how mere mortals want Jesus to look handsome ... of course how we would LIKE to perceive Him. There is a Jewish historian, Josephus who described Jesus as VERY unattractive but charismatic in a loving way. All things considered ... I suspect that Jesus was NOT very attractive ... .

Josephus never said anything about Jesus' physical appearance. He merely mentioned he was a wonderworker and had been delivered by Jewish leadership to Pilate who had him executed. He then states his followers claimed he rose from the dead and consequently they believed him to be the Messiah.

I was thinking about that same thing today. My thinking is: Why wouldn't God send someone that was pleasing to the eye? Why do we always assume Jesus must have been ugly? Maybe he was really beautiful.
