Added Harkin: "Bush did not win the popular election in this country. He won because he got one more vote in the Supreme Court of the United States in a case that never should have been decided by the Supreme Court.

Someone refresh my memory here. I thought the USSC vote was 6 - 3.

I'm saying Aristide got a higher percentage of the vote in Haiti than Bush got in this country."

Saddam got 99.9 percent of the vote in Iraq. I guess that made his regime legitmate, too.

What an ass.

We have a moral obligation to go to Haiti but no moral obligation to be in Iraq? Harkin's an ass.

LOL...I'm not livid. Harkin's stupid. Every major publicaton and watchdog group in the US went to Florida and recounted those ballots. Over a year later, they were still publishing their findings: Bush had more votes than Gore. Gore lost. The left really needs to get over it.

Someone should probably tell Harkin (he's obviously too senile to remember) that Aristide was installed by an American president who had garnered 43% of the popular vote.

Ok the gloves come off! Harkin is a traitor to America or making such venemous comments. Harkin should go live in Haiti if he thinks it's so great there.

By the same measure Bill Clinton is in the same category.

Harkin got only 51.8% of the vote in 1996 and 54.2% in 2000.

Time for good folks of Iowa to throw this guy out into a pile of dung. He's disgraced his constituents, his State and his Office long enough. Time for him to go.

I must have missed the part where Dubya extolled the joys of necklacing his opponents with burning tires.

And I'm not going to refight the 2000 election--the result was what it was--but Tom Harkin, as a career politician and particularly as a former candidate himself, knows how a presidential election works. He knows better than to say what he said. Or he should.

The Dems are incredibly nasty. I guess being in the minority is really getting to them. I can't wait until we get 60 in the Senate for W's next four years.

I know there is good, decent people in Iowa, a farm state. How come they wind up with such a demogogue for a senator? Why can't they vote him out?

"He's a legitimate, democratically elected president."

There are lies and there are damned lies. This one is the latter.

Dems always cry about the Suprem Court decision after the election without saying the most important thing.......

The case was brought to the supreme court by Al Gore, not George Bush.

Sen. Tom Harkin called Thursday for U.S. peacekeeping forces to be dispatched to Haiti, saying Haitian President Jean-Bertrand Aristide was elected with stronger voter support than President Bush.

Just when I think these Dems couldn't make any more of an a$$ out of themselves .. They go and prove me wrong

Looks like Aristide's pals here are trying to help their buddy out:

Appearing at a news conference on Capitol Hill Friday, Feb. 27, 2004, left to right, Sen. Christopher Dodd D-Conn., Sen. Bob Graham D-Fla., and Sen. Tom Harkin D-Iowa, call for deployment in the 48 hours of a security force to 'minimize the loss of life and property desctruction' in Haiti.

Harkin is a nutcase.

Besides, he can't add. Bush did not get 1 more vote than Gore in front of the Supreme Court. He won 7-2.
