It is getting to the point that Californication along with New Pork needs to leave the Union, or the people need to forcibly remove these statists from their position of power.
Boxer does not deserve to be the servant of any American. It is obvious that she desires to be served.

I'm on your side, but on the comparison to the AWB, I'd rather be able to have future generations able to buy rifles suitable for defending freedom, and take the risk that I get nabbed for the unlocked shotgun under my bed.

I'm looking for something on thomas.loc.gov to verify this.

If this passes, it will be a good idea to shoot in the back a thief who is fleeing with your gun.
(And do they really think that a little cable lock can't be cut off by a thief before he sells or uses the gun?)

If this is true, I expect the "If it can be proven that your gun was not stored properly" will place the burden of proof on the gun owner. Guilty until your prove yourself innocent that you stored your gun as mandated by Barbara Boxer.
Does anyone have the full text of the Boxer amendment?

Curiosity: what's the substance of the core (Gun Manuf. Liability) legislation, anyway: was IT a decent bill before this?

I agree, it's more worse than original AWB. The Boxer Amendment treats gun owners as criminals.

This story needs a link. (Posted about 20-25 minutes ago)
Here's one:
http://quote.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=10000103&sid=aWC_t3ogOiKA&refer=us U.S. Senate Adopts Measure to Require Safety Locks on Guns
Feb. 26 (Bloomberg) -- The U.S. Senate voted 70-27 to require gun manufacturers such as Smith & Wesson Holding Corp. and Sturm, Ruger & Co. Inc. to sell to equip all handguns with child-safety locks.

It would seem that the amendment to require sale of guns with locks (which is already occuring) is very different from the notion of fining citizens for the criminal acts of others who steal their unlocked guns.
I'd love to see the text. thomas.loc.gov has nothing from today, and the only proposed gun-related amendments to the bill relate to allowing law enforcement officers to concealed carry in states where peons are prohibited.

That's it. These people can go to hell. They do not know what "shall not be infringed" means and the courts are not doing their job. Locked and loaded means ready for immediate use when needed by me, my wife, or by either of my daughters when they are home alone. If we are not home the government is not going to tell me how to lock and secure anything and that is an invasion of privacy and an assualt on liberty. What I store in a gun safe and leave out of the safe ready for use and self protection is non of anyones business but my own.
