Senate debate on the gun manufactures liability bill will begin at 9:30 this morning on C-Span2. Expect Feinstein to attach her Assault Weapons Ban renewal rider on it. Also McCain may attach a rider closing the so called "gun show loophole". This is it folks.

My point is that you claimed to hear her read it into the record, and she didn't.

You also claimed that "The Boxer Amendment requires that gun lock be sold with all new handgun purchases. $2500 fine if your unlocked gun is used in an accident, stolen and used in crime, ect... It also REQUIRES that firearms manufacturers have integral locking devices and load indicators." And you claimed that you heard her say those things when she read it into the record. I was watching, too, and she didn't read her amendment at all, and I never heard her say any of those things (about fines for owners of stolen guns or about requirements for integral locking devices), and I saw all of her presentation for her amendment. Further, Senator Boxer's own web site doesn't say that the amendment that passed imposes a $2500 fine if your unlocked gun is used in an accident, stolen and used in a crime. Senator Boxer's own website doesn't say that the amendment that passed requires firearms manufacturers to have intergal locking devices and load indicators.

Not particularly. However, I don't want to harm my credibility by contacting my Senators and asking them to vote against something that wasn't even in the bill or any of the proposed amendments.

If you call your Senator and ask him/her to vote against this because it imposes a $2500 fine if your gun is stolen and used in a crime, your Senator will think you are nuts, because as currently proposed and amended, this bill doesn't impose such a fine. It's important to know what the heck you are talking about when you call your Senator's office.

The Craig-Frist amendment which increases the penalty for using armor piercing ammunition in the commission of a crime. It does not ban any ammunition and is meant to take the hear off of those who vote against the next amendment which may effectively ban most center-fire rifle ammunition.
