Nope. Goes directly after Bushmaster and Bulls Eye Shooter Supply. Bringing up teh supposed missing "238 guns" again. Anyone got the real scope on that?

Mikluski(?) offering her amendment: "...the snipers obtained a 'one-shot one-kill assault weapon'..."

Single shot rifles are now 'assault weapons'?!

Especially considering it was a STOLEN semi-auto. She didn't really look like the type that has much firearms experience.

Dickhead Durbin up now.

There is only the Boxer Gun Lock amendment that is truly noxious at this point.

Didn't Teddy K's "rifle ammunition" ban get through also?

Senator from Illinois:
"...they had a 'sniper rifle'..."
"gun dealer who could not even account for the gun that was used"...[families wanted to hold dealer responsible for gun dealer's recklessness in court]
"S1805 slams the courhouse door on the victims and their families."
"families don't even have a chace to go after the reckless conduct of these dealers..."

Ah yes, the deadly "Bulls-Eye Shooter". Shame on the rest of the Senate, their aids, staff and sergeant-at-arms for not shutting her up.

I'm pretty sure that she would qualify as the 5,342nd use of duct tape.

Never came up for a vote that I am aware of.

I have never seen 30-.06 marketed as armor piercing/defeating.

There is such a thing. 7.62x51 as well, IIRC. Of course almost any 30-06/.308/.223 will defeat many vests, certainly FMJ practice ammo will, since most vests are designed against the most likely threat, that is handgun rounds.

I can recall that stuff being available surplus by the ton, all through the 60s. As far I know it's still out there now.

This should be a wakeup call to hunters who think this isn't their fight.

Unbelievable.

I believe this is an attempt to ban all high power rifle ammunition

NO! You think?

Define high power as anything other than .22 rimfire, (well, long rifle, long, short, CB, etc, but not .22 WMF etc) and you are probably right. Senator Swimmer specifically mentioned the 30-30, and I don't know of any ammo for it that is specifically AP, although it will penetrate many vests.

The demoncrats are blurring the issue by confusing true "armor piercing ammunition" meant to penetrate steel and all other ammunition that can bass through woven polymers. Any bullet with a velocity over about 1,500 feet per second can penetrate soft body armor.

Mikluski offers legal opinions (one from Lloyd Cutler) that bill would require dismissal of sniper victim family lawsuits.

When did that happen? Today? This morning?

When she proposed and "read" the amendment this morning, someone made a motion as she started reading it that the amendment be entered into the record as read. That's common (and it drives me nuts). She did not read more then one sentence of the amendment before that motion was made and accepted without objection.

She went on for almost a half an hour talking about WHY it was needed and WHAT it would do. What is your point? Do you like the idea of Boxer tacking crap on to an otherwise good bill? Even if all she wanted to do was put a purple sticker on the side of all guns, I would oppose it.
