In all seriousness, we did.

President Buchannan would wander the halls of the White House, speaking to the portraits.

And more recently, the last administration's Co-President, She Who Must Not Be Named, admitted to channeling for Elanor Roosevelt.

Hmmm. I still think he would make an interesting President, even if he's not the first to talk to himself or have multiple voices.
