Boise businesses evacuated due to bomb scare

BOISE – Boise Police have evacuated two businesses and three homes Thursday morning in the 1500 block of Vista Avenue and blocked traffic between Overland and Kootenai roads because of a bomb scare in the area.
Boise Police spokeswoman Lynn Hightower said the move was taken as a precaution after a suspicious device was discovered by a passerby between the Maytag Laundromat and the Wells Fargo Bank near the intersection of Overland Road and Vista Avenue.
Police evacuated all people working and living within a 300 foot radius of the device.
Hightower said there were no threats to any persons or businesses in the area, and they may never know for sure if the device contains explosives. The bomb squad was called in to detonate the device, which was done without incident.
