One of the joys of my life, has been in learning about the traditions of other cultures. Me too. One of my main regrets is that I have been so foolish and dirt poor during my younger years. I wish I could have been more fiscally responsible so I could have travelled more.
It is good that you are the son of a legal immigrant, that is what built this country in the beginning, to me they are the backbone of America.
You are correct. My dad is a very hard-working, straight-shooting, honest man, the archetype of a great American. The funny thing is that he came to America at age 12, but he now speaks perfect American English. He assimlated into our culture perfectly. He's my greatest role model for how I should act as a man.
I can even understand the illegal immigrant, as a mother, I would hope that I would have attempted to flee Mexico or Cuba and bring my family to America.
I certainly can't blame these people for the desire to get into our country. We've let our borders become so porous that most of them must figure it is actually less risky to come here illegaly than to take a chance on legal immigration. We need a way to let the contributing people in and keep the scum and criminals out.
It is even the type of person who would follow the communist path that scares me.
Agreed. The mindset of a Communist is something I don't think I'll ever grasp. Who in their right mind would support turning over complete control of their lives to the gooberment?
If I could get out, I would be tempted to go around posting the communist manifesto on all the local bulletin boards.

In the old days in Mexico, the whole village would save money to send a worker to the states, that one man working for $5.00 a day could feed the village.
In the mid 70's we wanted to help a man become legal, and didn't have the $7,500 to $8,500 needed for the graft to get the papers. The graft would have been for the U.S. and the Mexican side of the border.
A local rancher we knew had gone through the process, he told us what we would need and it was beyond our resources.

I find today's communist to be the brain dead, raised by TV, new age type person. With too much interest in the occult and none in God.
TV has made everything so perfect, even the men and woman are not real looking (to me). Everything has to be name brand and the same as the other person's.
Of course, I am spoiled by knowing the truth about the TV sets and radio studio's, as in the 1960's I did several programs on the history and care of Orchids from San Diego.
The TV studio was dirty, the furniture trash. The radio studio, was a desk in a tiny room.
I would think that the same part of the brain that is used to "buy what you are told to buy", is the same brain that will be a communist brain.
I ran onto a new phrase today on the Internet, I had gone to read about Mossad and moving companies, was thinking that they had done a lot of research into the use of moving vans for terrorists.
Then it slipped into anti- Bush and anti- Israel, really heavy stuff.
