Ok, I have my NIV study Bible sitting in front of me. "Judge not or you too will be judged" is pretty much what I was saying, friend. It is not your place but God's to tell me who is a false prophets. It is only Our Lord's. Wouldn't you feel a little sheepish if God told you on judgement day that He loved me as much as you???

Look, I have no hatred for Roman Catholics.Never said you did.
I do despise your practice of Maryolatry however.
Nothing to despise, we don't worship Mary, the Mother of God, we worship God
If you pray to a being you consider that being god-like. This is sacreligious. Blasphemous.
Again no problem. "Through Mary to Jesus", not "To Mary and To Jesus".
I don't know how you can obey Christ, take communion, study the scriptures and still practice such an abomination.
Well first of all, I have been and will probably continue to be a sinner. I understand most of my failings and strive to do better but I must admit to not being the best Christian I can be. On balance though, I think when my time comes I will be allowed to access the path that Jesus established by his suffering and crucifixion as man. But, having said that I don't practice at abomination and practicing abomination is not Catholic dogma or tradition. You ever heard about bearing false witness?
I shall never understand it.
Would you like to try?

No I didn't. You really should read the "Catholic interpretation" of Matthew 7. It's really quite good. You and YOUR compatriot are trying to tell us not to judge. If you are trying to tell us that we are being hypocrites then you should point out our hypocrisy. You can't. So reread
Matthew 7 and try again.
Hint: the footnotes are your friend.

I think you would be forgiven for going to this one. It's not one for pleasure, it's going to be a religous experience.

This thread is about love for our saviour, Jesus Christ, the son of God, and the film that pays tribute to Him.
Please, if you have issues with each other, take it to another thread.
Just my opinion....thank you.

Jesus message is that God is Spirit and God is Love. The film shows the importance of this.

You my friend, can think anyway you like but I don't want to stand before God, after blaming another for a path to His love, when he said, "Judge not lest you be judged."
Here is an old Catholic joke for you.
Christ is standing before the crowd and by a sinner.
He says, "Let you who are perfect cast the first stone."
All of a sudden a big rock comes flying over the crowd and lands at Our Lord's feet.
Jesus looks up and says, "Mom!! I asked you to tell me when you are coming to my job!"
Geez, lighten up!

And could you please reference the "Catholic Interpertation" of Matthew 7, because I am sitting with my NIV and my Catholic Family Bible and they look exactly the same for Matthew, except the Old English in my Grandmother's.

The wifey and I just saw The Passion tonight as part of a church screening in Atlanta. I simply cannot review it as I would a "regular" movie, not yet anyway, for it is far beyond that. I can tell you it is very well made. I can tell you it is profound, and moving, and as real as anything ever put on film. There's no way to prepare for it, one has to just go and see it.
To: MiniCooperChick; netmilsmom
Don't worry, the movie should be around for a while. And until you've seen it, you can participate in discussions here, it's not like the threads will be "spoilers" since we all know the story anyway! Psst... don't tell anyone, but the hero dies in the end!
There is a PS though, and it makes for a very happy ending.

We will be ready to hear all about the comments from the others that shared the experience with you.. It sounds as if you had the same reaction that my friends had.. the common answer is.."words cannot describe" the impact..

You are now the fourth person who has said basically the same thing.
Paraphrased "I really can;t explain it right now. give me some time to think about it. Better yet, GO SEE IT!"

Don't worry, the movie should be around for a while Don't count on that.. I understand that there is already underway a push to limit the run of this production.. As you know it wasn't a snap to find a distributor for THE PASSION, and that has already limited the number of theater screens that the film will open at.
If you know how pressure works in this industry.. one gets an offer that they cannot easily refuse or they can be deprived the plum releases, the ones with heavy promotional funds for sneak previews and funds to self promote your theater.

Thank you for the ping Carlo! My son and I are going to the 7:15 show on Wednesday night. I'm taking the kids to the early Mass Weds. so we can get our ashes, then go to the movie later. My 8-year-old daughter is upset that I won't take her to the movie, but I told her she'll have to wait for the DVD. My son is 14, he'll probably handle it better than I will.
To: carlo3b
I have waited a lifetime to stick it in the Hollywood elitist eye. - excellent! - when's this out on DVD?

Damn disheartening to see this thread dissolve into a Prod-Catholic catfight.
We have much bigger fish to fry here given the behavior of our enemies.
As a Southern Prod, I have zilch beef with Gibson and his eccentric (or true) Catholicism and can only applaud his bravery and efforts for us all. It's been a long damn time since somebody took the battle right to the doorstep of the culture destroyers and we owe him.
