This race is up for grabs...
From Dan Weintraub (Sacramento Bee, 2/20/04):

Marin showing life in Senate race

The Public Policy Institute of California Poll on the Republican U.S. Senate primary showed former US Treasurer Rosario Marin breaking through as the leading challenger to the establishment favorite, former Secretary of State Bill Jones.

Jones is still leading, but has only 24 percent of the support, with Marin in second at 12 percent.
Former Assemblyman Howard Kaloogian was at 5 percent with former Los Altos Hills mayor Toni Casey bringing up the rear at 2 percent.

Yep!

SurveyUSA has had Kaloogian at 9% in the last three polls, but they also have Jones in the 31-36% range.

The one thing that strikes me is how all these polls (Field, PPIC, Survey USA) have had this MASSIVE percentage of UNDECIDED voters.

Eight days before an election and 57-73% of Republicans say they are undecided. Marin vaulted from 3% to 12% in that PPIC poll you posted JUST by advertising on southern California talk radio.

I can only wonder how high Kaloogian will surge now that we will be starting not just radio but TV ads.
