Bin Laden 'surrounded'
The Sunday Telegraph ^ | February 22, 2004

Posted on 02/21/2004 8:52:56 AM PST by Patriot1998

A BRITISH Sunday newspaper is claiming Osama bin Laden has been found and is surrounded by US special forces in an area of land bordering north-west Pakistan and Afghanistan.

The Sunday Express, known for its sometimes colourful scoops, claims the al-Qaeda leader has been "sighted" for the first time since 2001 and is being monitored by satellite.

The paper claims he is in a mountainous area to the north of the Pakistani city of Quetta. The region is said to be peopled with bin Laden supporters and the terrorist leader is estimated to also have 50 of his fanatical bodyguards with him.

The claim is attributed to "a well-placed intelligence source" in Washington, who is quoted as saying: "He (bin Laden) is boxed in."

The paper says the hostile terrain makes an all-out conventional military assault impossible. The plan to capture him would depend on a "grab-him-and-go" style operation.

"US helicopters already sited on the Afghanistan border will swoop in to extricate him," the newspaper says. It claims bin Laden and his men "sleep in caves or out in the open. The area is swept by fierce snow storms howling down from the 10,000ft-high mountain peaks. Donkeys are the only transport."

The special forces are "absolutely confident" there is no escape for bin Laden, and are awaiting the order to go in and get him.

"The timing of that order will ultimately depend on President Bush," the paper says. "Capturing bin Laden will certainly be a huge help for him as he gets ready for the election."

The article says bin Laden's movements are monitored by a National Security Agency satellite.

On Thursday last week, General Richard Myers, chairman of the US joint chiefs of staff, said America had been engaged in "intense" efforts to capture bin Laden, who was believed to be hiding in the border area between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

If Bin Laden is captured alive before the elections, he'll have a chance to vote for Kerry!

I want to see bin Laden captured, convicted of murder, and put to death preferably by public hanging.

a public hanging at Ground Zero. I like that. Then leave his Head on a Pike for all to see!

Don't forget, Osama bin Laden is innocent until proven guilty. [/HowardDean]

Let's not forget John Kerry and the attorney-at-law John Edwards!

Careful, careful. We may NOT be the ones who take him out! With a $25M reward for his head, someone else may do it!

Five bucks says he's all burqa'd up, attempting to slip out as a horrifically ugly woman. Any takers...? :)

I don't buy that because how many 6'5" walking burqa bags can there be? He'd stick out among any crowd, no matter how he was disguised.

That was an odd thing for the President to say.

That Tenet visit a week or so ago .....is looming larger everyday.

What did Tenet need to say face to face.

My reading is that they are convinced getting him alive would be better for various reasons.

Saddam's sons' bodies didn't help a lot, it seems, among the locals.

Parading Saddam in humiliating ways helped tons.

Besides, slap a high tech brain wave cap on him--show him images, ask him questions, get the readings--go after his troops and the nukes accordingly.

You know what the dims will do once we get him - they'll say the War on Terror is now over and will hammer Bush on jobs. That is exactly what they will do.

I'm reading two of Laurie Milroie's books and she definitively makes the case that a "law enforcement" approach to fighting terrorists is what got us in this mess in the first place and is totally ineffective. John Kerry has specifically said he sees the "War on Terror" as a law enforcement issue. I am extremely frightened of what will happen to us if he becomes president.

Yes, it was. When I heard it I thought the media would be all over the President's evasion. (Silly me.)

No, No, No!

Remove all the watchers.

Park them in a drug mobile on the edge of a very high canyon with a variety of pistols and ammo.

Of course, if Kerry got REALLY DELUSIONAL, he might try to seduce/rape Shrillery--that could take care of both of them right there.

Don't forget, Osama bin Laden is innocent until proven guilty. [/HowardDean]

He'll be "defended" by Ramsey Clark, with the John Edwards lawyer cult in support. John "F'ing" Kerry will claim it was the evil, murderous, raping, pillaging, burning and sadistic American military activities that 'made Osama lash out'. Demoncrats will argue that Osama would've been caught sooner with UN assistance. Meanwhile....folks watching the "Passion of Christ" will wonder if G_d didn't have modern Liberalism/Socialism/Communism in mind when He slotted Rome and Pontius Pilate in key roles for the Crucifixion.
