Bin Laden 'surrounded'
The Sunday Telegraph ^ | February 22, 2004

Posted on 02/21/2004 8:52:56 AM PST by Patriot1998

A BRITISH Sunday newspaper is claiming Osama bin Laden has been found and is surrounded by US special forces in an area of land bordering north-west Pakistan and Afghanistan.

The Sunday Express, known for its sometimes colourful scoops, claims the al-Qaeda leader has been "sighted" for the first time since 2001 and is being monitored by satellite.

The paper claims he is in a mountainous area to the north of the Pakistani city of Quetta. The region is said to be peopled with bin Laden supporters and the terrorist leader is estimated to also have 50 of his fanatical bodyguards with him.

The claim is attributed to "a well-placed intelligence source" in Washington, who is quoted as saying: "He (bin Laden) is boxed in."

The paper says the hostile terrain makes an all-out conventional military assault impossible. The plan to capture him would depend on a "grab-him-and-go" style operation.

"US helicopters already sited on the Afghanistan border will swoop in to extricate him," the newspaper says. It claims bin Laden and his men "sleep in caves or out in the open. The area is swept by fierce snow storms howling down from the 10,000ft-high mountain peaks. Donkeys are the only transport."

The special forces are "absolutely confident" there is no escape for bin Laden, and are awaiting the order to go in and get him.

"The timing of that order will ultimately depend on President Bush," the paper says. "Capturing bin Laden will certainly be a huge help for him as he gets ready for the election."

The article says bin Laden's movements are monitored by a National Security Agency satellite.

On Thursday last week, General Richard Myers, chairman of the US joint chiefs of staff, said America had been engaged in "intense" efforts to capture bin Laden, who was believed to be hiding in the border area between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Here is the other comment from Karzai re. videos..

""His exact location is not known," Karzai told reporters at his Kabul palace. "Inside or outside the (Afghan) border, it is not clear." Karzai said recent videos showing bin Laden demonstrated that he was still alive. "Everyone can see those videos," he said."

It is from this thread

Has Karzai seen videos that are not being shared with us? Hmmmmmmm

You all are going to think I'm crazy and sound like Maddie Albright here. I could see us doing a snatch and grab on Bin Laden.......and pumping for info for a few days .......then ......and only break the news only after we got all the info we could from him.

No, you're not "crazy". (LOL!)....What you are proposing is smart strategy!

And, that's a LONG way from Maddie Albright....Maddie had UBL living in the WH basement.

Pity Dick Morris knows nothing about the bond between a President and his citizens. Especially one woven with trust and respect.

I wish you were right, but the poll numbers show otherwise. Too many Americans are notoriously fickle.

Actually, they'd spin it that with the threat low, it's time to focus on domestic affairs-- health care, education, etc.

Remember my FRiend...poll numbers at this point showed a Mondale sweep over Reagan!

Americans trust President George W. Bush...regardless of the media's best spin efforts.

Show us physical evidence but tell us no stories. We don't believe what you say anymore; only what we see with our eyes!

There have been several articles lately about the U.S. preparing for a major spring offensive in that area. We are waiting for better weather.

It would be important for the snow storms and blowing wind to stop to give our aircraft the ability to see what they are shooting at.

Many of our 'smart bombs' are laser guided and need a laser nearby on the ground to point out the target. It would be very hard for one of our special forces to be grounded there all alone without support at this time.

I wonder if one or more of our satellites that are tracking him could be augmmented by one that is fitted with a laser spotter at some time in the future. It seems that if we can track him from the air, we should also be able to 'SPOT' him as well.

We have lasers that are able to hit the moon from the earth, so aiming from low orbit to hit a target on earth should be possible as well.

I suspect that a targeting laser would not require more power than a satellite could provide since the targeting is a seldom used option of relatively low power. It would be easier to implement a trageting laser onboard a satellite than a pulse energy weapon which would require much greater energy.

Bin Laden was killed in the assault on the caves of Tora Bora. The Express is setting up Bush. They want the Democrats to be able to make his non-capture an issue for the election. "You have him surrounded, why won't you capture him?" They will tie his non-capture into some deal involving Cheney, Halliburton, Oil, and the Saudi Royals. It is a scripted set-up.

Why would we want to degrade pigs like that? They have done nothing to deserve being treated that poorly. Even the bacteria we use in our septic systems are to good to let suffer the company of Bin Laden. I like the ideal of letting him hang from the bridge.

Incredibly so.

But I also think there's SOME correlation between Bush pressuring Israel to kowtow to Arafart's determination to eradicate Israel instead of

Bush insisting to one and all that Israel, Jerusalem etc. will be protected at all cost.

God is just very clear what a prioritiy HE gives to that.

Thankfully, I believe several spiritual people have been trying to make this very clear to Bush.

Now, how Bush manages those inputs and perhaps threats from the puppet masters is another thing entirely.

PRAYER IS ALWAYS NEEDED FOR HIM, FAMILY AND ADVISORS.
