[history]
February 20, 2004 -- TAMPA - Gary Sheffield says he's no steroid user, and he's only guilty by association. And the slugger insists he'd back up his innocence with a urine test.
"I've been an honorable guy, I've been outspoken about testing guys," Sheffield said. "Anybody that wants to [make steroid allegations], I'll take the challenge of taking the test.

I wonder how many Yankees will show up a *lot* smaller for Spring Training! ;D

Bonds is on the juice big time.
There should be one BIG FAT asterisk next to his name in the record book.
Same with McGuire and Sosa.

Giambi is the only current Yankee that looks like he might use. ....Although at least his cranium didn't increase in size over the years like Sosa's and Bonds' did.

The controversy has "kind of put a damper on" his first spring with the Yankees. "But I'll bounce back," he said. You better, Sheff. This is precisely what concerned me about the guy when the Yanks signed him -- he's proven over the years that a little strife rattles him to the point where he becomes a disruption to the team.

why McGuire?....he used an an over the counter supplement that anybody can buy....he never lied about it....
besides....he was always a big guy, always had a lot of power as I recall...
I don't know about Sosa...
but Bonds....come on, you don't get MORE powerful or quicker as you age....it just does not happen....
all sports are suspect I guess...

The reason BALCO labs was so popular among the pro-athlete set was because the head of BALCO "created" a steroid, known as THG (an altered form of gestrione -- and
highly toxic) which
cannot be detected by blood or urine tests... so whatever test Gary Sheffield should take is going to turn out negative. You can bet on it. THG was declared illegal less than half a year ago, sadly.
I wonder what would happen if it turned out that all the new records made in various sports over the last several years were due to undetectable steriod use, and if the players came out of the closet on the subject and America had to face the fact that all their heros were 'doping.' (I hate that term.) Would views chage in regards to acceptance of steroid use?

Although at least his cranium didn't increase in size over the years like Sosa's and Bonds' did.So, when they go off the steroids, do their heads shrink and shrivel?!

Sure!As someone who does a lot of Pilates (and may soon be working p/t in a Pilates studio), I can tell you that Pilates doesn't do that. And I suspect the same goes for yoga.
Now, if they want to sound realistic, they should say that they've been doing Atkins during the off-season. :D

So, when they go off the steroids, do their heads shrink and shrivel?! no those shrink and shrivle because of steroids. ;-)
