Sorry Toonces, but Ann's statements about Cleland were not "truth", hard or soft. He was injured four days after the actions for which he was awarded the Silver Star in Khe Sanh. You remember Khe Sanh? If that wasn't the "battlefield" in VietNam, then there was no battlefield. It is true that he was wounded by a grenade dropped by another while disembarking from a chopper. But he was in a combat zone and he was disembarking at an LZ that had recently been taken in hostile action. Ann's comments to the contrary demostrate either a lack of research or an outright lie, and she does owe the man an apology.

That is all correct. What I was referring to with the "cashed in" comment is that he sold out on homeland security to please his union cronies. In my opinion, that was the thrust of her article.
Was it incorrect? I don't think so.
Was it in poor taste? Unfortunately, I might have to agree with that.
