Do you think that the fact that Nascar fans are characterized as white, male and Republican had nothing to do with why Bush was there?

I certainly hope you don't have anything against the President going after his base. This is the same reason you won't see Democrats win in the south or visit military installations, soldiers, Wall Street, etc. The left doesn't have a base in the south or with the military or with businessmen.

The anti-American left have said for the record they think America should plan for the day we aren't strong militarily. Madeline Albright being the most famous to repeat those words. And Wesley Clark. And John Kerry.

John Kerry's votes in the Senate have certainly been to undermine the military, the intelligence community and our weapons systems - at least in this area he's consistent. He doesn't want a strong America and is on record as saying we should NEVER go to war unless we have permission from the UN.

I watched FOX news exclusively for about a year and a half after 9-11. Now my watching of FNC is mixed with CNBC (Dennis Miller) and MSNBC & CNN (breaking news). FNC wastes too much time on tabloid junk and other annoyances. Secondly, FNC does not have breaking news coverage that can rival CNN or MSNBC. They are usually last to get a report from the scene. CNN seems to cater to the gay and "eco" crowds with their "soft news", but at least they can get breaking news on the air. MSNBC had pretty good coverage of the Iraq War with their footage also provided by NBC.

I hate that FNC is drifting left. And it has seemed to be going that way since at least when Tony Snow left. Maybe before but not so noticeably. We have been missing Tony more as the weeks go by and if not for Brit Hume we wouldn't bother turning Fox on Sunday mornings. Several others such as Jim (Britt's stand in) Carl Cameron, Cavuto and Gibson are also favorites and I do like the business weekend Sat show but that is about it. Fox will go down as fast as it went up if the leftward bias continues. Much more of their slide to the dark side and our family is tuning out for good.

Fox News is no longer a "safe-harbor" for conservatives.

Sad but true. After years and years of watching media bias on tv, I thought I had found a sancuary in Fox News. They are going to lose their fan base if things don't change. I'm not sure why they've decided to pander to the liberals recently. If they don't change their ways, their ratings will drop and they'll just be another CNNBCBS wannabe.

They're triangulating to get more lefty viewers. Biggest audience possible.

They used conservatives well to get up & running. Shame.

Re targeting NASCAR fans because they were identified as white, male and Republican as a reason for Bush to attend the race.

Probably not, or not anything identified for special attention. That's preaching to the choir. He goes to a wide variety of venues. He is especially after swing voters. The group described by Fox News is already heavily Republican.

Well the President isn't there to watch a bunch of cars run around in a circle." Jarrett remarked. "He's obviously trying to get the Nascar Dads vote."

Well, it's true. Pandering is what Bush is all about.

I don't know if Kiran Chetry is a Dem or not, but I watched her get very emotionally involved in arguing against a pro abortion guest on the show once. So I am not sure of her politics.

When was this? I've only been watching Fox for about a year now, so maybe I missed it.

I saw the post you were responding to.

You seemed to be intimating there is something wrong with Bush going to his base, but then you have been a Bush basher since you signed up here.

Look, NASCAR's boring, and nobody's coverage is going to change that.

Same goes for NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB and the rest.

I saw this coming a year ago. I knew they were just using us conservatives to get competitive.

Greg Jarret is unwatchable.

I can't tell you the date or show specifically, but it was probably about a year ago. I remember it because she lost her professionalism (even flushed) and become emotionally involved in the argument - to the point that it was glaringly obvious that she wasn't just asking questions, but had become part of the argument.

I don't think they're doing too bad, but I agree it's going downhill.

Fox's research must be telling them that they have low numbers of Dem idiots watching. It's more cost-efficient to offer cheap entertainment for the Dem idiots than to offer more quality programs for intelligent people. Quality costs.
So the conclusion is that they can most cheaply increase their profits by going for them!
(But ultimately it is advertisers who decide what is on and they greatly prefer the idiotic manipulable Dem viewers.)

Hopefully, Fox'll reinject some of their vision into their programming. Aisles knows that the news standards journalism professors inculcate are way too socialist for the average American and the money is in bringing us what we consider is news - not what journalism professors think is.

Tabloidism is just a part of cable news. Best they can do would be to give it it's own programs IMHO and keep it to a minimum on news shows.

Believe it or not: When USA Today and CNN started they both showed promise of being more balanced than the established media! Boy did that end in a hurry.
